I remember my set was delivered (from the great Ed of SciFi Cards) a couple of hours before I went out to an advance preview screening of Casino Royale back in '06. A good preview set if ever there was one!
Sadly this rather nice set seems as close as we'll ever get to a 'base set' for Casino Royale.
So why 3 sets cardaddict???

I don't know, but I wanted one sealed and one opened. I think maybe Rittenhouse sent me two by mistake and when I offered to send it back they said just keep it. That's why I love them so!

Originally posted by Thush: I had one of these sets too. I always thought it was odd that we never got a set of cards based on the preview cards. Anyone know the story why?
All RA have said is that Die Another Day (their only stand alone movie set for Bond) was their least popular Bond product and that their retrospective sets are better sellers.
Given that fact and Die Another Day only had 8 autos and all the retrospective sets had way more to collect I think it is an unfair and shortsighted comparison for RA to make.
Besides, we all know that big hits carry whatever base set accompanies them, so the base set becomes somewhat 'irrelevant', for want of a better word. The next Bond set could have a 90 card set of Octopussy, but so long as it also had the usual great list of signers and props it would still sell out in a flash! Its high time great Bond films like Casino & Quantum got their own set of base cards while they're still current.
