webjonI'm certain given the rarity it's acceptable to discuss this auction. . .

. . . hmm. . . direct linking from eBay doesn't seem to be working. . .
Years ago I saw Mark Macaluso's copy of this card, he was asking $5,000 for it at the time, and that was many many moons ago. . .
Cool card. . .

wolfieI can't because it is a live auction and against the forum rules.
Harris may deem it to be of special importance.

David RYes, I believe there is an exception for cards that are of great significance. Harris ?

Chuck BartowskiCan you really call that a promo...it's a never released prototype card?

catskilleagleThere has been talk about that card elsewhere on this forum. It would be a promo in a broad sense. It's not a card that was intended to be released to the public as it is an in-house prototype for a card style that did not end up going into production. A prototype of any kind is going to of interest to the general promo collector who looks for the more unusual and rare items especially those associated with a popular movie or comic book.
Years ago, on the "bay" there was an oddball Sandman prototype by Skybox. It was of a different style than any in the card series (refractor?) and it went for good money then. Maybe someone else recalls that more clearly? I might have notes on that auction because I was watching it and might have even put in a bid.

Bill MullinsIn the early 1990s, when promo collecting was in its infancy, it was routine to group "Promotional" cards and "Prototype" cards together.

FRANK AMICOTopps also made a number of series 2 cards for ET and the set was never released.
The same goes for Battlestar Galactica.
