No such thing! There's (possibly) a stuffy Cockney accent, a stuffy Welsh accent, a stuffy Scottish accent, a stuffy West Country accent (actually, there are several of those!), a stuffy Geordie accent, a stuffy Midlands accent... I won't drone on!

</pedant>
Of course you make topics interesting - EVERYONE does!

There is no such thing as a stuffy Geordie accent. You cannot get a stuffy Geordie accent. I should know, I'm a Geordie. Then again I do try and speak kinda posh...
When you meet me don't expect me to do Byker Grove impressions. Although I will do Big Brother accents and the guy from Alan Partridge on request

Ok, someone please explain to this uneducated American what a Geordie is.
I watch Absolutely Fabulous, MI-5 (sometimes) and Buffy - so there are my British accent influences......Is there a Geordie in any of those?? Or BCW can just give me a call and and say the alphabet

Just kidding!!

Quaint1A Geordie is someone hailing from Newcastle, in the North East ofd England. Usually hard as nails, wanders around the town in a tee-shirt even in the middle of winter, drikns Newkie Broon. I'm trying desperately to think of a Geordie someone in America might actually have heard of! Apart from BCW, of course.
If you've ever seen the actor James Bolam in anything, he's about the closest I can think of...

Oh, Hang on, "Au Wiedersehn, Pet"! Have you had that in the US yet? THAT's Newcastle style (bonny lass)

Describes me down to a tee (apart from the "hard as nails", "wanders around the town in a tee-shirt even in the middle of winter" and "drinks Newkie Broon" parts)

-BCW your going to give them the wrong idea completely, lets face it Sting and Bryan Ferry sound about as Geordie now as the Queen.

Quaint1This isn't going to help too muc heither, but Neil Tennant (of the Pet Shop Boys) is also a Geordie.
Does Viz get as far as the USA? It's got some interesting humour in it, and it's mostly produced in Newcastle...

Ahh... the good old Viz. I especially like the profanisaurus (which is online but I won't link to it as most would find it extremely offensive and likely demand I be thrown off CT).

Yes, I think it was

I've heard Sting speak, I've only heard the Petshop boys' music. Anyone know if Siouxsie and Budgie are Geordies? I've heard them speak alot. *And I can understand them*

(But does anyone know who they are besides me? LOL)
Never heard of Viz, Quaint, Sorry.

I think we have the same plan.

I haven't made the top five in four months!

And now that school is back in session, I'm not going to until at least December!

Don't know anything about their hometown(s), but I used to BLAST Siouxsie and The Banshees back in high school and college. Am I that old? Are they? Gawd.

Well, then, I'm in the old folks home alongside you. Alternative 80s music was (and still is for the most part) my favorite music.
How about They Might Be Giants?
