Today is April 1st and of course that is April Fools Day. The internet is now awash with various stories and posts and websites who think they are clever. Any sort of conspiracy theory or just made-up BS is being broadcast and shared. Some is nonsense, some sounds like its something that could be legit.

The problem with harmless April Fool jokes is that the people hearing them these days are not the same as the people in the past. These days people will believe anything that matches up with their own ideas. They have no filters to tell the difference between truth and fiction as long as the fiction is what they want to hear, even for the most outrageously exaggerated stories.

So watch out what you read and don't be surprised if the weight of the printed word drives many of these April Fools over the edge. In a world where the most ludicrous things have happened, is it any wonder that so many people miss the jokes?
