I was at Target and I saw DC Multiverse action figures by McFarlane Toys and each comes with a trading card packed inside. I saw Batman, Joker, Flash and a bunch of others. The back of one box listed 5 different figures but another box had 5 other ones. Didn't appear to be Target exclusives but who knows.

Sounds like it could be 1989 Kenner Starting Line Ups all over again. I remember it well. Sales clerks in Toys-R-Us and Kay Bees were opening cases in the storeroom and grabbing the few best pieces for "grateful customers" out in the parking lot.

This figure line is pretty much everywhere, Walmart, target, GameStop, books a million, heck at Christmas time I even saw an end cap of them at my local grocery store! The figures are nice, I had to get the batgirl, but I have heard reports of some of the paint jobs chip off easy as well as some of the figures having small parts that break easily. If you are going for the cards, it is going to cost you 17 to 23 bucks per figure.

Wow that is a lot of different ones. I only saw 5 different ones with cards.

The series is growing fast. Are there any attempts at a checklist available?

At last count, I believe that I now have close to 50 different cards. I'll post a complete list (of the cards that I have) as soon as I get the chance to pull one together.

Most of the cards are available on that auction site without having to pay for the figures (and the crazy postage costs to ship them). With that being said, just like anything else, some of the cards are waaaaay more expensive than others. When I see a reasonable asking price, I've been picking them up here and there. It's quite an eclectic set of cards as it mixes comic art, photos of the actual toys, and photos of some of the better known actors from their movie roles, but I like them since they're something different.

An ebay search of DC Multiverse cards, both current and completed auctions, show a TON of different ones

Are the cards different? I think I got the same card from both series.

I'm undecided on that one myself. While the 2 cards that I have are different colors, I'm not convinced that the difference isn't due to a printing anomaly (rather than being intentionally different cards). As this series has progressed along, it also seems that some of the different color variations with the Gold Label and/or Platinum versions of the same figure (different paint schemes) no longer justifies having a different card. Gorilla Grodd, Mr Freeze, Jay Garrick, and Knightfall Catwoman all come to mind with the same card being found in both versions of the figures (or at least as far as I've seen so far). The hunt continues...
