H_Toser25th Anniversary Of NSU
The new Oct/Nov '14 issue of Non-Sport Update ships this week. This is our 25th Anniversary Issue. You can see the full contents on the issue, including our table of contents and info on promo cards on our
current issue page. The issue features an original art cover by Jeff Zapata with some of the characters NSU has featured over the years and an expanded page count. We've written about publishing 25 years of NSU inside and there are many nods to the milestone as well as coverage of many upcoming sets as well.
Also, a deluxe version will also be available. This edition includes the regular magazine and promos along with an autographed insert hand-signed by Roxanne Toser, Marlin Toser, Harris Toser, and Alan Biegel, your Non-Sport Update editorial team. Only 100 copies on those are being produced.
The issue is available now to order (shipping in just a day or two) and coming soon to select hobby shops and newsstands. Order a single issue here:

There is a special Price Guide version. A one of one. I'm looking at it as we speak.
I hope that the card companies heed my plea, not that I carry any weight. Read my column.

RavenBill - Do you mean read your promo column in NSU?
Both the Price Guide and NSU seem to be the same as the subscription version, except that autographs are signed on a separate numbered insert. I don't know what you mean by special Price Guide version.

Correct, the Promo column. I was joking. If I signed my copy of the Price Guide it would be a 1 of 1 version.

catskilleagleI just wanted to add that I was sorry to hear of Dan Hemphill's passing back in 2009. I was re-reading the Oct-Nov 2014 issue and saw that in Roxanne's Non-Sport Notes. She was recalling the 20th anniversary issue which I must have missed or forgotten somehow.
I was a big fan of the Finders/Keepers column as it let me know about oddball premiums especially in foreign releases. Sometimes, the promotion was over with but I was still able to track down at least some of the cards, because as anyone who collects anything knows, it helps to know exactly what you're looking for.
Maybe NSU doesn't need the column any longer with the New Promo Releases part of the website performing that function, and I never met Dan Hemphill, and yet he helped me with my collection a few times and I wanted to say something about that here, even if belatedly.

Thanks very much for saying that Jess.
I wouldn't say it was a case of not needing the column any longer. It was more of the case of not getting the submissions like we used to. That was always tough. And to that end, Dan was really terrific. He used to send it all sorts of things.
I suppose there was two other factors at play as well. One was that the Net started to take over with people posting their "finds" here on Card Talk and other places. And the other thing was that space became an issue in the magazine at some point. I don't know if it was right then but if not, it would have been so later anyway.
But yeah, Dan is really missed. He contributed a lot!
