I just started listening and you are right, we do need subtitles to understand what Harris is on about.

wolfieGreat show once again, well done Paul.
It's intresting that Paul and i spoke and recorded for about one and half hours to get the 20 minutes that is in the podcast.
What was in the rest of the interview that ended up on the cutting room floor?
The world will never know.

Quaint1Has to be said, I did cut some interesting stuff, but if I left in everything that you and Don and HArris said in the course of our interviews, it would probably bring about the destabilisation of several major governments - just look at what one comment by Harris in the last episode about free ice cream at the San Diego show did for the world economy...

Don NortonJust listened to the show Paul, and you did a wonderful editing job, but now you have to work on making me sound more - well, -- alive.
Maybe you can speed up my bits, or would I sound like one of the chipmunks?
Anyway, good job, I think it was a good show, liked Wolfie's section too.

Quaint1Thanks for the comments raiderSgt - I'll be honest I was taken aback when the subject of the show moving came up - it will be interesting to see what happens next time!
Moving on to upcoming podcast episodes; I will be recording discussions and interviews in the next couple of weeks for Episode 12+1 and then there will be a short break before recording (hopefully) at Memorabilia.
I would, however, like to mention that I will be starting the voting process for "Best of 2008" soon - please don't vote yet, but do put your thinking caps on and ponder the three sets you think were the best of the year between January 1st and December 31st! I cannot say much more at the moment but I am working on an 'incentive' to vote, so watch this space!

Quaint1It's that time again - the latest episode is now online and should be available as I type this! It's Episode 13 (or, if you are triskadecaphobic, Episode 12a!) and entitled "Women of Geekdom" - it's in two parts (sorry, but Garageband cannot cope, for some reason I cannot fathom at the moment, with recordings longer than 1 hour and 6 minutes, and I didn't want to edit any more out!) and features interviews with Roxanne Toser, Joanna Kohlbus and Kate RED Bradley. It also features NO HARRIS (sorry Eric!) but he'll be back next time...

Is the incentive less Harris

Just kidding!
And I had fun with that one - though I always hate to hear myself on the playback. It was nice just to chat with Paul and Kate - lord knows what we talked about though? Hopefully Paul has magic editing tools that made me sounds witty and intelligent

BatmanHeard the podcast last night, you did a fine job, Joanna, as did Kate and Roxanne. While the podcast was technically Harris-free, his name was mentioned quite a bit, I believe Paul even referred to him as "king of the internet', or something along those lines!

Quaint1Ah, Batman, that would be his 'King of the Internets' Tee-shirt I referred to, but I understand he only wears that behind closed doors...

Oh, and I think the girlies did an excellent job too, considering... (ironic use of 'girlies' there

)
Seriously, I had great fun talking to all three contributors to the show and I hope some of that comes across in the end product. Has to be said, I had a lot less editing to do this time than is usually the case, and most of what
was done was purely because of technical glitches in the recording software and not for editorial reasons!

I don't beleive a word of it.

Those girls were just having way too much fun. Who really knows what's on the cutting room floor? I think there must have been some libations at play.

I shudder to think what the blooper episode will turn up. I better keep making my payments to Sir Paul.

Quaint1Thank you to all who have been downloading the "Women of Geekdom" episodes - but can I just remind everyone that it is a two parter and, depending on how you access the podcast, if you want to hear both parts you will have to make sure both parts are downloaded - I know iTunes will usually only download the most recent addition to the originating RSS feed, which in this case is part 1.
I've been looking at the download figures and everyone seems to be getting part 1 (and are therefore, I hope, enjoying the Roxanne Toser interview!), but not as many are getting part 2 - and I wouldn't want anyone to miss the fun conversation I had with Joanna Kohlbus and Kate RED Bradley!

Quaint1I know it's only a week since I uploaded the last episode, but if anyone is interested, there is a new "Special Episode 02" online now which looks forward to what visitrs to Memorabilia can expect of the NSU stand, etc.
Half an hour of almost non-stop Harris, for those who have missed him!

The next proper episode will be the one I record at Memorabilia, which should be online early December, then I'm taking a break until after Christmas - that said, I will be looking for votes for the "Best of 2008" poll - same rules as last year, only this time I want your top three sets released between 1st January and 31st December 2008 - the cards MUST have released and been available retail between those two dates.
There
may be an incentive to vote - watch this space...
Full details in the next full episode, but if you want to vote now, send an email to ukcardcast@googlemail.com with the subject "Best of 2008", listing your favourite three sets of the year - if you want to say why, please feel free (I may use your comments in the results show!)

GrahamCan't get it to load

November 16, 2008, 06:27 AM
Quaint1Graham,
From where are you trying to load it? It worked on iTunes yesterday (I made a slight mistake in the RSS feed which I fixed yesterday morning) and it should now work from the CardCast website (I just went in there now to fix the links)
If you get it from another podcast directory, it might take a little while for the corrected RSS feed to work around the 'net, though it should be there by now.
Au Res.,
Paul
p.s. if you are still having problems, you can download it directly from the Internet Archive at
http://www.archive.org - just type in UK CardCast, or CardCast, or even just my name, Paul Bines, and you should get a list of all the podcast episodes I have stored on there.
