Anyone have a good guess as to when the August/September 2024 issue of NSU supposed to hit the streets? Noticed a cool picture of the cover on the ‘bay with an Andy Warhol-esque collage of Wolverine cards on it. Guess I’m falling for the “Deadpool & Wolverine” movie hype Smile

My guess is we are just a couple of days away from someone announcing that a copy has arrived.

My new issue arrived today. A colorful Wolverine cover. Inside is House of the Dragon, Pacific Cards, and Top Ten Cable/Streaming sets. 3 Promos: Transformers 40th Anniversary 4 of 4 from Dynamite, Adventure Time Series 3 P3 from Cryptozoic, and Ultraman Series 3 P2 from RRParks.

Wolverine edition arrived yesterday. Never very involved with him, but there is a good article and pics on "House of the Dragon".

My favorite regular entry is the Top Ten Lists, and this one is on card sets based on Streaming Shows. I would have done a different list this time around. I would leave off #10 "Wandavision" and #6 "Spartacus" Blood and Sand". I don't think UD gave Wandavision much of a chance in distribution. Not enough for a Top Ten anyway. And how many people are still remembering "Spartacus". I would replace those titles with "Sons of Anarchy" at #9 and "Warehouse Thirteen" at #8, which had early success and good coverage in autographs. Another substitute could be "Dead Zone" because the whole cast signed.

There is no way that #2 "Game of Thrones" bows to #1 "Stranger Things". GoT is #1 and #5 "Dexter" should have been #2 for its significance when Breygent released it. To me, "Stranger Things" is #3. #7 "Outlander" and #8 "True Blood" s/b #4 and #5. #3 Mandalorian is only #6 in my book and #4 "Picard" is only #7 to me. I would call #9 "The Sopranos" as #10 only because the show was so important to streaming. The set was missing key autographs. So that's my own personal list, less concerned with money cards and more interested in good overall coverage.

My inside issue promos were "Ultraman Series Three" NSU 2, "Adventure Time Series 3" P3 and "Trans Formers 40th Anniversary" Promo 1 of 4.

I received Adventure Time P3, Transformers 3 of 4, Ultraman 2.
Only had time to flip through, but was impressed with the updated Marvel card pricing Cool

Are there different promos in the new NSU ?

Looks like some people found Adventure Time P2 promos, others P3.

Is there just 1 Transformers promo in the latest NSU ? Can all 4 be found in the magazine, 1 per copy ?

My copy of NSU arrived this morning and I had the same numbered cards as Heroes for Hire.

Looking at the cover (top right corner) it shows images of the three promo cards which I take to mean these are the only cards in the magazine.

regards

John

Yes, all 4 Transformers promo cards should be found in the current issue, inserted randomly. There is only one Adventure Time Playpaks Series 3 card.

By the way, we generally post the info on what's inside on the website here.

Thanks!

First world problem here, but I would argue that they are NOT inserted randomly.

My dealer order FINALLY arrived (that's another story) today.

I wanted to make promo sets of the Transformers for those customers who have been ordering the product.

I opened 15 magazines. 1 had NO promos. 13 had Transformers 1, and ONE had Transformers 4.

Disappointed that Beckett cannot mix these up for insertion.

And for those thinking about picking up a 2nd issue to try to get a different promo, you might want to pick up that extra at a different location.

Anyone need 1 of 4? Looking for 2's, 3's, and at least 1 more 4.

Ed

Looking at the auction sites, I think (but am not 100% certain) that the same 4 Transformers promos were given out at SDCC

However, I also see 4 other Transformers cards from the recent SDCC that have the 40th Anniversary logos on the fronts, and the auctions say that these were at the Hasbro booth

I picked up a copy a few days ago. I got the Transformers 4 of 4 promo.

It was interesting to read about that 1966 Batman vending box selling at auction for over $55,000. It was part of a big find of unopened Topps stuff, mostly sports, last year. I found out more about that find online.

I was wondering if the world needed another review of Wacky Packages history but that article was interesting.

I don't watch a lot of streaming shows but did keep up on "The Mandalorian." I don't have any Season 1 nor Season 2 but did spring for a box of the Chrome - nice cards.

I liked that article on Pacific Trading Cards. I might look for Cramer's book.
