David RDecember/January Issue Arrives
I just emailed customer service through the Cryptozoic website, and this was the response:
"We had two different promo cards for Jurassic Park. We never sold any of them. P1 was given out at Philly show. P2 was exclusive to NSU magazine."
November 26, 2025, 12:13 PM
Don NortonIt is explained inside the magazine that the Cryptozoic Jurassic Park promo is substituted for the Peanuts promo at a rate of 1:5, so it is rarer.

Unless you got NO Cryptozoic promo's

monsterwaxThat's another loss about losing NSU... It was a constant and reliable source of free promos! Now where will the average collector go to get so many of them included at no extra charge.
I guess if you live up North, you can still get a lot of free promos as the Philly! But NSU was every two months, delivered at your door. For the prices I saw those promos resurface on eBay, flipping the promos would more than pay for the subscription. (But I kept them all, just like I did the magazines.)

H_ToserThanks for saying that Kurt!
Regarding the Cryptozoic Peanuts/Jurassic Park promo cards....here's how it was *supposed* to work (and explained inside too as pointed out above). Every copy should contain one Cryptozoic promo and you get one or the other. The Jurassic Park promos were inserted at a rate of approximately 1:7 copies.
It sounds like the insertion was done correctly although something definitely went wrong with Hammer's copy.

David RMy one copy didn't have one or the other. It had both ! I was pleasantly surprised

monsterwaxI was cleaning my files today and saw this title come up: "NSU 25th". I didn't remember what it was so I opened it up. It was a little blurp I wrote for NSU's 25th anniversary ten years ago. It brought back some memories of what it was like BEFORE the magazine launched. Now it seems as if we're returning to a time when Nonsports is viewed as the unwanted step child (at least in comparison to sports cards). The more things change, the more they stay the same...
At any rate, some of you may enjoy revisiting that time. (I did.) Here's what it said:
There was a lot to remember about October 1990. That’s when Germany finally reunified and raised its flag over the Brandenburg Gate. It’s when Soviet President Gorbachev won the Nobel Peace Prize for helping end the cold war, and President Bush (Sr.) first addressed the UN about Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait. But that was all boring “adult” stuff. What I found more exciting was a new magazine about my favorite hobby, trading cards. Oh sure, there were other trading cards magazines, but the only ones on the newsstands were about sports cards. This one was about the other cards: non-sports-- the kind that were less common than sports cards, but far more diverse and entertaining! Non-Sports Update had a glossy cover, slick pages, color photos, and even an original art cover by Wacky Pack artist, Jay Lynch. Non-sports had finally “arrived” and gotten the respectability it deserved! Other slick non-sports magazines eventually came and went, but NSU kept chugging along. While the card market has gone up and down, NSU has kept its high standards, and even today, remains the Cadillac of trading card magazines. Happy 25th anniversary NSU, from one of your oldest—but no less enthusiastic fans!

December 04, 2025, 10:23 AM
Tommy CJohn posted a scan of the P2 promo below in the New Promo section. I haven't seen that one yet !
December 08, 2025, 04:38 PM
catskilleagleYes, I got one too - see below. I should pick up another copy to get the Peanuts card. Also, that blurb on page two that explains the promos you could get says that there are three different Craniacs Series 3 promos - one per issue. I got P9.

At least in wasn't just me LOL
December 15, 2025, 05:26 PM
catskilleagleI bought the last copy and this time I got the Peanuts promo, a Craniacs Series 3 P8, along with the Pirates promo.
December 16, 2025, 11:05 AM
Tommy CWhy would someone spend $ 100 on the Jurassic Park P2 as two people apparently did on Ebay? Isn't it cheaper to buy 5 copies of NSU and see if you can pull it ?
December 16, 2025, 06:49 PM
catskilleagleThat's assuming they knew it was bagged with the magazine. Some people hear about something rare and then they see it on Ebay and they jump on it because they've hesitated on something else before and lost it, never seeing it again.
This kind of overpaying has happened in the past with at least one of the Outlander promos. The NSU issue was still available (just go to your nearest B&N or Books-A-Million) but people were going crazy on the Bay because they didn't know where it came from.
