Good day at the show picked up numerous promos, a Marvel Girl commission from Tony Perna, a Marvel 3D AP from Joe Simko, Perna Studios show promos and metal variants, several binders I was in need of and several boxes as well. Saw a few other things I liked but could not afford! Still a good day with more tomorrow

I did not take many photos at the show this past weekend but here are a few:


NSU presented Walter Day with an award for his contributions to the hobbies of trading cards and gaming


Someone presented Elaine and Tony Perna with this two-part X-Men business card/trading card holder that was personally made just for them. It was incredibly cool. I don't know if it will show in the picture but Elaine and Tony's name is etched into the X logo at the top and bottom.

Breygent Marketing announced a couple of brand new releases at the show. Here is the Jurassic Domination Collectible Sketch Art Booklet series

Bench Warmer created an exclusive Dreamgirls "Sweet Dreams" dealer-exclusive promo card, which was given out yesterday at the show.

Back home safe and exhausted.
This was my second trip to the Philly show.
Arrived Friday before the show to check out the flea market, and vendors obviously knew non-sport collectors were on the way.
By 9:30am Saturday there was a line of about 50 waiting to get in. Checking in did not take very long. As expected, a large room filled with a great mix of modern and vintage cards in abundance. Pretty much wall to wall, and I saw only one empty table. Focused on acquiring manufacturer promos first and they also offered free packs. Promos were OK.
Saw Kevin, Mike, Scott, and a few other familiar faces. Prices ranged. Most dealers were friendly and willing to work with you. Great working with ToddR, MichaelG, and MikeM. My primary focus vintage and modern chase cards...made a huge dent. The one thing lacking was modern base cards. Granted sellers only have so much table space so they have to give priority to hits, chase, boxes, packs, but it would have been great to complete base sets especially those one card wonders that languish on the want list.
By 9:40am Sunday about 10 people were in line. Definitely a lighter crowd, but the second day gave me opportunity to follow-up on some goals. By Noon my suitcase was full and my budget spent.
The greatest challenge is the expense and effort in getting there. Allentown city planners seem to have an aversion to straight streets with only one name. It would be great to have the venue & hotel at the same location. Evidently, Chicago has spoiled me. Yet, once you are in the big room it helps make the overall experience worthwhile. Thanks to Harris and company for organizing.
Surprisingly on the flight home I sat next to a nice person that works for Lucasfilm. We talked about the new Star Wars movie and another film in process called Rogue 1. This person, a big Star Wars fan, assured me that I will love the new movie. It was one of those chance meetings, and icing on the cake.

Light haul this time…only so much room in a suitcase.
Two sealed boxes, 100+ packs, 5 oversize, 1 graded, 70+ promos including exclusives
3 promo sets, 135 vintage singles, 1 chase set, and 180 chase cards.

There were a lot of people selling cards, and lots of people buying and trading cards. Some artists were drawing cards too

Seems like the weekend just flew buy and there were people I barely had a chance to talk to. I didn't have much energy to look through boxes (probably due to lack of energy from the medication I was taking) but I did end up buying a lot of card sets on Sunday morning and picking up some neat (non-card) Disney items.
I liked the Cryptozoic promotion where instead of a promo card in the entry pack you received a raffle ticket. The ticket gave you a chance to get some cool cards (prizes included sketch cards, costume cards and Walking Dead P1 Metal Promo Card).
Thanks to everyone that came out and made the show fun! I can't wait until the October show!

Those $9.00 card sets in the photo were all marked down to $5.00 on Sunday. The $6.00 bins were $3.00 and the $3.00 were $1.00. There was a frenzy of collector activity, myself included, as the word got out. Some sets included the chase. I picked up the Grinch with all inserts for $5.00 plus five other sets. (Laura beat me to it and hoarded all of the better sets.)

I don't think they had anything from Continuum on display. There were autographs from the upcoming Bond and Star Trek Voyager releases (that I didn't take photos of) but I think that and the Voyager sketches were the only cards on display at their table.

Looked like a good time by all...

I haven't been to a card show in a while.

I need to go to a show soon... I miss going to them.

Once again, we Brits have hit the jackpot with a prize larger than luggage! Hammer was lucky enough to win one of the superb Star Trek retro posters that Rittenhouse Archives was giving away.

Well, home and hosed from another trip. I'd like to thank Harris, Roxanne and Marlon for putting on another superb show. I picked up and commissioned superb PSC's from Tony Perna, Elaine Perna, Warren Martineck, Rhiannon Owens and Brian Kong. These cards actually outnumbered the cards I bought. One of the highlights for me was the surprise appearance of Lark Sudol who although wasn't drawing, was great company with a long chat over a beer (or two ) Way too many friends to mention, but it was my pleasure to see everyone again. Thank you for making me feel so welcome. Too many photos to post, so here's the link to Facebook.
