This is not about cards, but about comic books, which I also collect. I have observed several crazy things at the recent SDCC, in terms of gimmicks, and hard to get items, mostly by Aspen Comics.


Aspen had variants on 2 comics, Fathom and Soulfire. Only 25 of each made. Already, they are going for close to $ 200 each on ebay

Aspen had another deal-- Mystery Boxes, which sold for $ 60-70 each, 250 made. Each one had 1 of 5 different comics inside, limited to 50. But these were totally random. In other words, you could potentially buy 5 boxes for $250 and get ALL of the same comic, not 5 diff !

Spawn issue 299 had a variant limited to 500, and already these are $ 300 and up on ebay

Immortal Hulk had a variant that you had to be a Marvel Mastercard member (a credit card ?) to obtain.

Crazy stuff !

Saw one for 25 cents.

My lawyer ( J. Cheever Loophole ) tells me there may be image rights or image lefts depending on which way you look at it.
