These cards were quite pricey when they first were released, so I had passed them by (temporarily) but persuaded myself to pick up a box from Derek at Allentown. They are a tie-in to the Nintendo gaming universe but are trading cards, though with slightly rounded corners that are typical for the CCG genre. Hobby boxes hold 24 packs, retail bonus boxes hold six packs. Each pack has 3 base cards, 1 sheet of temporary tattoos, 1 foil card, and 1 sweepstakes-chance/advertising card. 1:24 of the foils is a high-chase Gold Holographic Foil character card, which might sell for more than the cost of the box, while the others are Silver Full-Foil storyline/game tips cards. There are two wrapper designs. This is a gorgeous set with plenty of text to satisfy collectors of base cards. Expect 1.44 base sets of 50 per hobby box on average if collation were perfect, 4.8 tattoo sets of 5, and 0.85 sets of 27 Silver Foils. HOBBY BOX Base Set (50): 1 complete set, 12 doubles, 5 triples. Tattoo Set (5): 4 complete sets, 4 fives. Sweepstakes Card (1): 24 of "Sorry, this card is not a winner." Silver Foils (27): 23 unique, missing S10, S14, S19, S21 Gold Foils (9, 1:24 packs): G5 of 9: Link . | ||
