I opened boxes 8429, 2370, 1347, and 5344 and here are the 'big' pulls: Was really hoping for Indira Varma and Yuri Kolokolnikov autographs since I only collect bordered cards (you gotta pry Carice out of my cold, dead hands though). I got 7 of the 9 quotable cards and I don't know what the hell it is with my pulling two of the same common every single year. ____________________ "For a universe that's supposed to be half Chinese, Firefly sure doesn't have any Asians." -- The Uncomfortable Truths Well

I think you had some bad luck or the correlation is off. Only 2 ELs, 1 VL and one Bean out of 3 cases is weak.

Got my second box today. Base and inserts were as expected, no Beautiful Death parallel this time. No sketch either, or Sheild/Pin card. My autos: Roger Ashton-Griffiths as Mace Tyrell Bordered, Limited Nicolaj Coster-Waldau as Jaimie Lannister Extremly Limited The Jaimie auto really was one I had wanted. Did anyone notice packs usually have 5 cards, but the ones with a foil parallel have 6 cards?

On the whole I was VERY pleased with my case. There were a few annoying little things, such as two doubles of autographs, which hasn't happened to me before, but the other autographs made up for it. Admittedly I haven't been buying cases for many years so perhaps I've just got lucky in previous years with getting no doubles before. No sketch card but I don't collect those anyway...would have been nice, only to get some money back. My case break: Kit Harington EL Jacob Anderson VL Limited: Burn Gorman Daniel Portman Indira Varma Roger Ashton Griffiths Sean Bean Thomas Brodie Sangster Tony Way Will Tudor (Has to be the worst autograph ever! Hardly even a wiggly line!) Yuri Kokokolnikov Normal: Aimee Richardson Alexandra Dowling x2 Anton Lesser Dominic Carter Emun Elliott x2 Francis Magee John Stahl Kate Dickie Noah Taylor Ralph Ineson Tobias Menzies All boxes made complete base sets. 1 x Complete Parallel Set, plus extra cards. 12 x Gold Parallels 2 Complete Quotable sets, plus extra cards 12 Valar Morghulis cards 12 Beautiful Death cards 2 Gold BD Parallel cards 2 Shield Pins H5 & H6 1 x Case Topper The things I don't understand with this set is the high price and Extremely Limited status of the Oona Chaplin card?(I think that was discussed elsewhere.) Unless that's just playing on the Chaplin family connection thing? And the Very Limited Bjornsson 'Gregor Clegane' card. The latter had a memorable part to play in one episode of S4, but the prices I've seen for him so far seem a little OTT for a VL card. And, yes, the shield pin cards are identical to the pins you can buy from the HBO store and other sci-fi outlets. I won't be adding to those cards, as I have all the pins(with their pins still attached) already and they cost me a tiny fraction of the price these cards are selling for.

Disappointing box overall. Kate Dickie as Lysa Aaron (Already have) Mark Stanley as Gren (pulled from last years box!). 1 base set + 12 spare cards. Q31, Q33, G9, BD10 1x Gold Base #54 and 1x Gold #BD6. Have a want list of over 20 new autos but I pull repeats lol. Majority is going straight for trade which is sad considering what I paid for the box! With the sheer volume of repeat signers & autos I have already next year I won't pre-order but contact a few dealers once the checklist is out. This message has been edited. That's a shame you got a low-value auto box. I noticed one or two boxes in my case I would have been annoyed with had I bought them as single boxes. I'm not criticizing just for the sake of it, because I love these sets, and Rittenhouse do a great job(some of the chase sets are beautiful!), and you do get more hits than a Cryptozoic box or others, but the collation of boxes is quite disappointing at times. For this set there is around half of the autographs listed as'Limited'...more than half if you then count the ELs and VLs. If a Limited is estimated at around 300-500 signed cards and if you say there's an average of 400 of each limited then that would work out at, at least 10,000 boxes could have a Limited card. There were 11,000 boxes for this set, so surely each box could include a Limited and a Normal at least? Or am I simply being too rational?! I know values of cards is not the responsibility of Rittenhouse and is up to the market to decide, although they must have a good idea what is viewed as a good pick and a lower value one. But this set could so easily have had a limited and a normal card in each box. I know some Limited are less appealing than others, but it would still give a bit of guaranteed quality to buying a box. For example one of my case boxes had two normals: Emun Elliott and Francis Magee. Those two autos are going for around £5-8 each and are both repeat signers...so that would have made the box very expensive for little return. Another combination I had was Kate Dickie and Noah Taylor..again less than £20 in value. I didn't mind because my case overall was pretty good, but I do feel sorry for single box buyers that they can pull such an absolute stinker.

If I hadn't of had those autos already I'd have probably been reasonably happy. I was when I pulled Mark Stanley last year and I purchased Kate Dickie because I wanted her. Next release for GOT purchasing habits will certainly change. ____________________ Is beginning to realize that collecting cards is like an itch that never goes away......

Box 02846 (Purchased from a friendly Card Talk dealer) Auto: Hanna Murray (Gilly) Full Bleed Eugene Simon (lancel) Full bleed (worst signature ever!) All Men Must Die: G8 (Sansa) Beautiful Death: BD 16 Quotable: Q36, Q39 Gold Base #32 (91/150) Foils: 4, 24, 28, 30, 40, 68, 73, 87, 91 I am feeling lukewarm about the Beautiful death cards. Opened my first box and found that the old Will Gull luck is up and still running. Susan Brown and Emun Elliot autos. I quit collating and caring. It's quite simple. I don't expect great hits when I purchase one box at a time, but come on!

Sorry Will, I think you got the box usually reserved for me! Seriously, GOT has a large auto list and, as a box buyer myself, you hope not to get two commons, but it happens.

I love the show and this line of cards in general, but when I placed a new card order the other day, I couldn't bring myself to get even one box of GOT Season 4, thanks to the chance of getting what Will got, a pair of very minor autos from characters who last appeared in Season 1, if I'm not mistaken. Marillion (Emun Elliot) was the troubadour who Littlefinger framed for throwing Lysa out the Moon Door in the books, but he didn't even get that on the actual show, as they cut all of that, likely for time, as it was good stuff, especially his plaintive singing from his Skycell as he awaited his punishment. I got another SHIELD box instead and was happy I did as I got the Bill Paxton auto I wanted. A lower print run and a better lineup of autographs in it (even without main characters Skye and Fitz) than in GoT this time around made the decision for me. That said, good luck to those who take the chance on this GoT season 4. There is good stuff in there, for sure, but I'm going to wait for the Season 5 set, I think, and just pick up a few bordered autograph singles this time. OK, back to breaks, and better luck next time, Willgull! I've certainly known that sting... ____________________ Everywhere around this burg they're running out of verbs, adverbs, and adjectives. As before, I want to say that I love the GoT sets and it's the only set I'll deliberately save up for to buy bits and pieces from(especially the autograph cards), even though I gave up on making actual Master Sets after S2. As much as I love the sets, there is something about this particular set that seems...not exactly rushed and hurriedly put together, but kind of an 'odds and ends' set. A look at the copyright date on some of the autograph cards, particularly the lower end cards shows that some were made/signed in 2012, some in 2013. While I'm sure RA always get at least two types of card signed to use whenever they want to, it seems as though they were waiting to use them and decided it was going to be for this set as everything else was a bit scratched together, either through time constraints or some issue in production. A lot of the autograph cards selection doesn't make a lot of sense in regards to the big story lines some of the characters had in S4. We're missing Brienne, Hound, Arya, Sansa, Baelish, Dany. While they have signed for other sets, it seems strange that they're missing from this one. Maybe a return for the S5 set? So to me this set has a little bit of a fragmented feel to it. And the endless parallels are a bit of a lazy option for the chase inserts sets. The shield pin cards being actual pins you can buy from the HBO store for around £12 also were a little disappointing, with the Archive Box H7 card for the Hand of the King pin selling for around £200-£300...simply ridiculous! I'm also hoping for a better 'more meaty' line-up for the S5 set next year.

I think you stated it well in your assessment. Don't misunderstand me, I will likely end up spending just as much money on GOT cards this year as last year. It just feels like there is a lull in the Season 4 line-up because many of the new signers are not compelling characters. We have been spoiled by getting the 3 Lannisters every year, while some of the more important actors you mentioned have been MIA for a couple of years. And I keep resisting that Chaplin because it's not worth it to me. I think the Bean is very good to bring back, but dropping in autographs of minor characters who died in Season 1 in Season 4 cards is waiting too long. So to me, the problem with this year's cards is not that they are so far off, it's just that they are off compared to the first 3 GOT releases. Kind of a victim of there own success. I'm still buying and will look forward to Season 5.
