Svengoolie Card Series (2025, MeTV)
I ordered 4 boxes and received them. They are very much like retail "hanger" boxes, if you are familiar with those. Inside are 3 packs of 10 cards each, so 30 cards per hanger.

My outer cardboard mailing box was pretty well crushed, and one of the hanger boxes was, too, so I opened that one to see if the cards in the packs were damaged, and luckily, it doesn't appear so.

It is approximately a 100 card set according to the box. At least one base subset isn't numbered, though, so short of someone opening a lot of this, there might not be a full checklist readily available until MeTV or maybe Svengoolie can add one to their website.

There was one foil surface card per pack, and those look sharp. I got two cards that were serial numbered on the reverse side.

I got one dupe out of the 30 cards which is very good, but hopefully these aren't packed in repeated sequences. As it is, my chances of completing even the majority of the full set from the 120 cards I have are very low.

Anybody else get these?
Please post your results, even just descriptions if you don't do pictures. I'd like to know more about what's in these from actual pack openings. I'm assuming the "surprises" alluded to on the packaging refers to the foils and limited edition cards I got, but maybe there are autograph or even sketch cards. Svengoolie draws all the time on his show.

The packaging:

Ok, the subsets of the base set, and chase cards seem to be:

Frightful Faces (with Retro Variant, Serial Numbered out of 300)
Memorable Moments (unknown if there is a Retro Variant for these)
Svengoolie Trivia (with Retro Variant, Not Serial Numbered)
Art Cards (with Shimmer Variant, Serial Numbered out of 700)
Svengoolie Comic Covers (unknown if there is a Retro Variant for these)
Svengoolie Foil Portraits (these have puzzle-backs. Unknown if there are non-foil versions of these)
Official Chicken Thrower Membership Card (any variation(s) unknown)

Only the Frightful Faces and Memorable Moments subsets appear to have standard card numbering. I'm going to open at least one more box of these, so hopefully, I can refine the above further.

Very nice but.....

...NO personal checks!

I did open another box, and there were more 3 more of the foil cards and numbered cards, one of each per pack, so distribution of the limited cards appears consistent early on.

I ended up with 6 base card duplicates from the 60 total cards. That's not a ton of duplication from the other box, but enough to insure it'll take at least 5 boxes, maybe more, to come even close to a full base set (let alone getting all of the numbered and foil cards).

Any checklists included with these?

No checklists in the two boxes I opened. I ordered a few more, and will open at least one more of those. I'll update my set completion rate once I have, the best I can, anyway. Unfortunately a couple of the subsets don't have any card numbers.

Being from the northern Illinois area these are a blast from the past. Love the songs and spoof commercials, as well as the movies.

We dropped cable and went with YouTubeTV last year, so I unfortunately no longer get MeTV and can't watch Svengoolie anymore, but I loved it for the 5 years or so we had it.

Yeah, a lot of people have been dropping cable. My mom was paying over $250/month a couple of years ago so I drove her to the local office to get a cheaper deal. She did that but the price seems to bump up regularly no matter what you do. Her bill is back up over $250 again and she doesn't even get HBO or other fancy channels.

Anyway, I never watch Svengoolie so I'm going to pass on this one. You can spend $100 and still not have a complete set and it appears there isn't a way yet to know when you're close. If you're having fun with it, though, please continue to show us what you get.

We get MeTV via a broadcast, over-the-air channel.

I put a trading card in the picture to make it legit.

The image is unavailable as it appears to be regionalised, also what do you mean by the statement "make it legit"?

The picture is of a collectibles room that features some Svengoolie action figures. I think he means he added a trading card, an Avengers triple autograph card, to the display area since this is a trading card forum and he didn't want to be off-topic. I'm pretty sure no one would complain, at least, I would hope not.

Many thanks for the description but may I quote the adage "A picture is worth a thousand words"

Someone posted on Facebook an image of a Preview Pack that appears to be different from the packs in your boxes. Not sure where that was distributed or what cards were inside. I believe it is white.

Here's an image of a pack. It's a 5-card pack. I haven't seen images of the cards. I haven't seen any comments about the cards either (whether they differ from the cards released later). Packs were given out at a Svengoolie panel at last year's San Diego Comic-Con.

Many thanks for the image.

An image I can see at last. Unusual to see the pack with the title "Preview Pack" on it. Does "2025 Limited Edition" apply to the set of cards overall or the preview cards? If given out at SDCC that might explain the LE tag.

John

One Preview Pack sold on ebay for $ 125 and another for $ 200.

Two more up for sale for $ 200 and $ 250. Frown

I guess that means the going rate is $125-200. I'd like to know first if there were cards exclusive to pack before I kicked out $100. If they are just samples from the regular blasters, there is still some value because of the special packaging. Some collectors still spent $30-60 or a little more for some of those TSR show packs that had the same cards as in one of the sets.
