Del Rey Books
PCE2008 contains an entry for Del Rey Books with a scattering of numbered cards (#7, 9, 11, 12, 13) listed. The cards promote sci-fi and fantasy novels and they are said to be show promos. Over the years, I have looked for these not knowing what they look like. Promoking was looking for these too. Until this year, I had not seen one.

I finally found a sample of them - a small lot - and they came out of the collection of someone who picked them up firsthand. I asked him where he got them, and while he wasn't absolutely certain, he was reasonably sure he got them from the freebie tables at science fiction conventions. Since these cards promote books, they are not always of interest to promo collectors so that explains why they are hard to find - not as widely collected back then so there are fewer floating around now. There might be book collectors who have more of these.

Anyway, I have a few numbers not listed in PCE plus one that is and I will be posting images of them here over time. Here's the #2 card promoting "Robotech" novels #4, 5, and 6 by Jack McKinney, which is actually the pseudonym of a pair of writers, James Luceno and Brian Daley.

7) The Stone Garden
9) World War: In the Balance
11) The Warrior's Tale
12) Power Lines
13) Ghost King

The cards I have are 2, 4, 5, 6, that 13 Ghost King card, and 14. The first four have 1994 dates. The last two are oversized at 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches and have early 1996 dates.
