cardscout182PROMO-NOIR as a genre..?
Thanks Jess, I love that Creature from the black lagoon sticker... Was there anything on the back of those?
The Frank Miller Sin City Card by Dark Horse is also very nice. I think I have that one, yep. Just checked, I do have it in my collection lol but still nice to see them here on CT.

catskilleagleThat sticker is blank-backed. With no text on either side, I didn't know where it came from the first time I saw one at a collectibles show. I just happened to see another one years later and the seller knew what it was.
After thinking about what I said in my previous post, I didn't intend to talk anyone out of posting their black & white cards even if they wouldn't be considered "noir." One thing about that is that it's tough to define and some people don't even like the term. Even after people started shooting in color, some artists (film, painting, etc.) still liked black & white for certain projects. Sometimes, they wanted a noirish or a maybe just a stark look they can't get with color.

catskilleagleHere's are two of the X-Stacy promos, the third being the same two as a 2-card uncut panel. It's not really noir/noirish (or is it?). There's not much about the comic that these cards promote. Some comic artists like to work with black & white.
I've never seen the uncut panel.

cardscout182found another one for the Promo-Noir genre... Melpomene The Dark Muse by Dilemma Productions 1996

catskilleagleThat's probably a card from the Independent Universe Series 2 set. I say "probably" because it's not in the Allender listing for Series 1 (doesn't have Series 2). There is more than one "Dark Muse" card. I have three different ones and will post them soon.
I don't have a full set of either series - just scattered singles from an oddball lot I bought on Ebay years ago. I remember Aeolus saying he had bought a set back in 2018-2019. Among the cards I have, there are several black & white cards that would fit this thread.

catskilleagleAlso, I should tell you that the Independent Universe sets are "gray area" promos in that they promote various independent artists but the sets were sold through Diamond at the time. The artists were sent uncut sheets and singles of their cards and they likely gave out at least some of those (maybe even cut up the sheets), explaining why singles and small lots have come up for sale over the years. Some secondhand/thirdhand sellers might have broken up some sets too.
I see three sellers wanting at least $200, and as much as over $600 for a complete set. Is there something special in those? Allender provides a checklist for Series 1.
