cardscout182The most common promo card on earth
This topic may have been discussed previously. sorry in advance... I was chatting with another promo card collector today and the subject briefly came up on, which is the most common, 100 for 10c, get 'em on any street corner, can't even give 'em away Non-Sport promo card... Thoughts welcome
Maybe More Than Battlefield Earth 1995
Maybe Tank Girl 1994
let me know what you reckon?

chesspiecefaceIt almost surely must be a Comic Images promo, so you're definitely on the right track. I'm drawing a blank on the artist names, but I remember one Comic Images art set had a promo for a different set found in the regular packs, something like 4-6 per box. Comic Images boxes were printed in massive quantities during that span, meaning there could have been hundred of thousands of that card produced and distibuted.
As for the Battlefield Earth promo specifically, haha, at least it has nice artwork on it. I don't know, maybe someone could gather up a trashbag full of them, and get Tom Cruise to buy them.

catskilleagleYeah, I remember Bill DeFranzo's trade lists from the late 90's. He put a trade value of one dollar on the more common cards and a lot of those were Comic Images promos. I'd have to think about it but there were others that might have rivaled those - cards with multiple sources.
Some promo sets in cello-packs like that Disneyland 1991 Preview Series and the 9-card Desert Storm set from Pro Set were very easy to get. Some dealers had piles of those. I remember a big pile of the Island of Dr. Moreau promo packs from 1996 at a local show.
Wizard was a popular magazine for years so I have seen a ton of those cards that were bagged with them available.

wolverine651It’d likely be something in the 1990-1994 range, as that’s when production of comic related things was *really* ramped up.
Some that come to mind are:
Hulk 92 Masterpieces promo- came with Marvel Age #118 so whatever the massive print run of that comic was
Psylocke 92 Masterpieces promo- came with a Wizard so whatever print run of that was (or any other Wizard promo around that time)
She-Hulk 93 Masterpieces prototype- enormous amount of this card out there- I have a stack of about 200 myself.
If we are including promo sheets- the common 1992 Marvel Universe 4-up panel is actually serial numbered to /30,000, probably one of the higher serial numbers I’ve seen for a promo, but I suspect the above listed masterpieces promos still surpass it.
Even larger almost surely- the common 94 Masterpieces 4-up panel (Wolverine, Venom, War Machine, Goblin), or possibly the 9-up panel of that. Each was included in multiple different publications at the time during the mass-production year of 1994.

wolverine651Also this one can give a pretty accurate print run of:
2008 Masterpieces series 2 hobby packs all contained a card that dual functioned as a code on back redeemable for UDE points but also a promo for the MM series 3 on front. So it is a promo card.
There were 18000 hobby boxes of 36 packs, so 648,000 of this promo should exist. While perhaps not comparable to a Comic Images early 90s promo included in packs…that is still a massively common promo.
