If only 4 people want something, and 5 of them show up, that can kill the market.

It may be another case of all the diehard Buffy collectors, who had been hunting that set in the early 2000's, found one later or decided they didn't need it (content with all the Inkworks stuff). With no new Buffy movie nor TV show since, demand didn't get any bigger so there are just a few old collectors maybe keeping their eyes open for a cheap one. If it were listed at $25 or less, it might have sold quickly.

I say that because I just saw that a lot of 18 Jurassic Park Kenner cards sold for only just over $20 last week and the auction had 5 watchers but just 2 bidders. Those cards have tended to sell for $5-10 each and can go for $15 or more if it's a number certain collectors don't have. A lot of collectors these days are still looking to pick off things from their ancient want lists but they are less inclined to pay anywhere near top dollar than they were 20-25 years ago.

There's that too. Collectors can pass on an item that is legitimately rare but they see no one else jumping on it so they suddenly don't really want it either. Many aren't searching for stuff as reguarly as they once were (who has the time?) so they are learning about that set being available here, and as of this writing, it's still available.

I've noticed from looking at recent Ebay auctions that there seems to be a total lack of interest in the vast majority of Buffy comic books released between 1998 and 2023. Everything is either unsold or they go for next to nothing. No Buffy comics were published in 2024.

The only hot items appear to be the Buffy trade paperbacks and hardcovers which reprint the comics, in particular the TPBs which were exclusive to libraries. They seem to sell for $40 to $60 and up.
