(Feel free to move if I'm in the wrong place)

Was I very blind before or a new feature called Hide post just 'pop' on card Talk? Confused

I thought I was seeing things too. I just clicked on CSI Dave's post to see what it would do. It removed the post, when I clicked on it again and it came back. I wonder what purpose this is going to serve.

Maybe to hide posts you have read already so it's easyer to read through large topics. Confused

Sounds more like a 'Block' tool. So we never have to read anymore of Wolfie's posts... its gonna save years!

I havnt tried yet but it may block all posts by a particular poster in all topics...

Groupee implemented an upgrade overnight -- just a small one with no large changes expect a new feature that allows you to skip certain posters. You can add them to your "ignore list" under the Go menue (Go > Personal Zone > Ignore List). The "Hide Post" link is only really useful when you are actually ignorning a posted. When you are, the "ignore post" toggles to "show post" and then you are able to show a post of someone on your ignore list, if you so choose to do.

Sheez, I hope that made sense!

To be frank, I am not certain that this is the best feature. And neither the "ignore list" and "hide post"/"show post" can be turned off.

That's the scoop -- assuming you haven't already added me to your ignore list. Roll Eyes

I hate to complain about Groupee as I do like their product, but to me, this is a bit "anti-community". And for a company that is trying to offer community solutions, well, it just seems odd as a feature that can't be turned off. Just my two cents worth, though.

I don't like it. Mad I think everyone should have there opinion seen. I would hate to know someone was placing me on an ignore list just because they did not like my opinion on certain subjects. I think the card talk community will be worst off because of this new feature. Frown

Ahhh I was looking for a topic that explains the new "Hide Post" I noticed.

I don't think I'll ever use it. I don't mind the way things were before. Plus, I like to keep things simple. Thumb Up

If you feel like you need/want to edit things before they cross your eyes, or want to remove anything you find objectionable, then this tool is a fine addition. If you feel fine and capable of reading and experiencing other peoples views and opinions without a safety net, then you wont use it. No harm adding the feature though. it allows thoes who feel they need it, a chance to further customize their message board and web browsing experience. Some people like movies in the theater as they were created, some people feel better/safer seeing movies after they have been edited for content for broadcast television like TNT. Different strokes for differnt folks, but there (in my opinion) is nothing wrong with having the option.

Am I the only who finds having Hide Post in big bold letters in the corner of every post distracting?

I feel there's something negative about this feature. It's weird on a very friendly forum, especially that big. Hope it won't last.

I feel your pain, everyone. I have said some of these same things in Groupee's own forum (too big, negative, anti-community, etc.). And it's really frustrating that it can't be turned off. There are a few other admins on the Groupee board who are also complaining so hopefully, Groupee will work issue another update. Or some other resolution will be found.

Well, it makes the page much shorter when all the posts are hidden :P
The text could be smaller. Other than that it doesn't bother me.
Other forums I frequent have the option, but the settings are in our control panel/profile pages. I only use it on one forum for one person as the way he writes really annoys me and I was sick of trying to decipher his posts.
At least people can speak properly here Wink

Hi Star:

Thanks for the input. Just to clarify what I said. The controls for setting who you have on your ignore list are in your profile here on Card Talk too. Maybe I didn't make that part clear. If you would like to set it to ignore a poster here on Card Talk, you can do that now in your profile (Go > Personal Zone > Ignore List). Of course, this is all assuming we don't jettison the feature at some point.

At the very least, I am trying to come up with a solution that will make the "Hide Post" link smaller or less obtrusive. Perhaps if it was smaller and not so "in your face" for every post you look at, it wouldn't be as bad.

Harris
