James Garner had a very long career and was one of those dwindling iconic actors who always seemed to be playing himself. We don't have that in our younger movie stars now because they all want to method act and disappear into their roles. Fans are not attached to these people like they were for the likes of Garner, whose talent was for making it all look natural.

RIP Mr. Garner.

Loved watching Maverick and the Rockford Files when I was growing up. Cheers

Hm, slightly puzzled by the Stingray reference here Wolfie as he wasn't in that.

Sad to hear that another one of the few remaining old school actors from my early years has departed but he will be remembered for a long time for as Jim Rockford. I can still watch episodes of that series and thoroughly enjoy them. Great entertainment from a great entertainer Thumb Up

The Troy Tempest face was modelled on James Garner.
