Most theaters around here are $9.00 or $6.50 for a matinee. I try to go to the matinee whenever possible. We also have a $1.00 theater that shows older releases. I end up seeing most movies there.

We have free screenings but I usually avoid them because they are so crowded.

I haven't bought Popcorn or a coke recently but I think they are around $5.00 and $3.50.

Prices recently went up at my cinema, it's now AU$15.50 for a ticket. I worked there while I was in school, and I can advise not to bother buying the drinks or popcorn because unless you go when it's medium-busy and they have time to make fresh popcorn, they'll just empty the bags of pre-made popcorn. And the drinks are mostly water.

It's a rip-off, but candy bar is where the cinema makes most of its profit. I don't believe they profit from ticket sales, least that's what my manager told me.

For an Adult at my local Cineworld, prices are £5.70 Mon,Wed-Fri before 6pm, £7 weekends & after 6 during week. £4.50for earlybird films before 12 (they don't have many now) and £4.40 all day Tuesday.
They do an Unlimited card (any film, any time, no limits)though which I have,I pay just £11.99 per month.
I always take my own drinks and usually food, popcorn is a treat!

Is that as many times as you want during the month?

I think it's approx. $8.50 adults here, Matinee Tuesdays it's approx. $4.50. Plus tax of course. Snacks are as ridiculously priced here as anywhere, but they do make the popcorn fresh. My wife still thinks it tastes stale, so we don't get it often. We often smuggle in goodies in her nice big purse, especially since there's a dollar store around the corner where we can get a bottle of pop for a buck, which is cheapest anywhere, and chocky bars for a little less.

There is a drive-in relatively close by. Problem is, since we have a mini-van, we have to park farther away now (never used to before), so while the sound is great, you can even smoke if inclined (last time I went, anyway, I've been quit for 2 years now), and take in whatever you want to eat. In mid summer it gets very humid, and that's no fun, either. Lots of pros & cons there.

My nearest Cinema which is privately owned advertises that the entrance fee is £2.50 during the week and £3.50 at weekends and they are the current films too. They also advertise that they have the biggest screen in the county.

Our local theatre is a Regal Theatre and I prepurchase tickets at Costco for $15 for 2 tickets. We have done this for years. I think the regular non-matinee price is $10.25 a ticket, and matinee is now $6.50 or $7.00.

Plus we usually get a large popcorn and a large soda for $12.50 and share it. Both are refillable.

Make sure you join the rewards clubs that the theatre might offer. I get free tickets, sodas, and popcorn every once in a while...

Mike.
