The report i read said it starts well ( first 20 mins ) and then just becomes the same old thing with the Hulk more like a nasty child than a tortured scientist.

The first movie had a couple of things wrong with it. The first thing was the awful debut trailer shown during the Super Bowl. The effects weren't completed so the Hulk looked like a cartoon character. That trailer began the horrible buzz about the movie before the movie came out.

The other problem was Ang Lee's vision of the movie. He saw the Hulk as a comic book character so he shot the movie the same way. One framed scene would lead to the next framed scene, similar to the panels in a comic book. This approach insulted comic book readers, who expected more.

As for this next movie, the Hulk character still looks unbelievable. Yes, when Bruce Banner turns into the Hulk, he obviously gets bigger and perhaps a little taller. But my wife and I find it a little silly to see a 9-ft Hulk, so we'll wait for this movie to come out on DVD.

I agree with you that the on screen look of the Hulk is not really that good despite the technology, but its kind of hard to do. They don't want to go as the weight-lifter-in-the-green-paint-thing, but the Hulk as created doesn't really allow the audience to suspend belief.

A few years ago there was a movie called the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. It was dumped out despite having a well-known cast because the story was all over the place and the studio just wanted to get it to DVD. I actually like it as a guilty pleasure in an its so awful its good kind of way. Anyhow, the Mr. Hyde character that they made for that film is nearly a dead ringer for the Hulk, except he isn't green. Same special effects I guess, but I think Hyde was better because the whole movie was dumber. You should check it out sometime for a laugh.

Anyways, I think I too will wait for the Hulk on DVD just because I was never that much of a fan to begin with.

I think it is generally further afield international territories that get films a few weeks later. In the UK there is ussually only a couple days difference if any. Indy IV was released on the same day as the US. Of course it also depends on the film and what it is opening up against. Then there are some films, like Bond where the UK usually get first dibs. Quantum of Solace will be released a whole week before the it hits US cinemas for example.

But back to the Hulk, no matter how hard the studios try I just don't think the average film goer is as interested in this comic book character. He's no Batman. Similarly, I personally wouldn't be as invested in the main character being an almost entirely CG creation. I mean, I wouldn't mind seeing the Hulk, but that's more because Edward Norton is a great actor. Otherwise, not really fussed. Certainly not excited... and I like comic book movies.

Well he does have a multiple personality disorder like Batman(the comic one or the Card Talk One), but he is green and stronger than Batboy.

My wife and I saw the movie last night and while not perfect, enjoyed it very much. Definitely better than the last one.

In one scene, there was a TV in the movie showing The Courtship of Eddie's Father (who starred Bill Bixby, who played The Incredibe Hulk (pre-change) on TV from 1978 to 1982).

Also, Lou Ferrigno was in the movie doing a cameo. Lou was the resulting Hulk when Bill Bixby turned into the Hulk.

Stan Lee was in the movie as well as Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark (Iron Man)....

Mike.

I'm not a comic book fan and when they showed this scene on tv I was confused then someone pointed out the Avengers connection which I guess is due in 2011..

This was the film my son has wanted to see for months. We saw it today.
My son 4 stars
My wife 3 stars
Myself 3 1/4 stars.
It is good. We all enjoyed ourselves. If everyone would be willing to give it a change and not compare it to the Ang Lee version it stands a chance of doing really well.
