So why not embed the picture?
Perhaps John Levitt, like myself, is a victim of the Photobucket changes and has not yet determined the best replacement host for his images...so cannot post/embed images at this time Smile

Thank you Kevin you are nearly correct.

Yes,I have yet to find an alternative to Photobucket, on another blog I frequent images have to be sent to the host so they can display them and on another I can include an image with my text.

At least 8 pictures on this thread have fallen victim to the changes made by Photobucket.

Bill

And talking of victims, in my view any admonishment on not posting a picture should be made to the person who made the first post about a deceased which in this case was not me this time although I have been guilty of it twice previously. Please accept my apologies again. I will now refrain from adding to this thread.

At the time I responded I merely looked through Allender's lists to find the information as I did not think I had a suitable card. With your post I now realise that I do. Perhaps its time to remind again those folks that have information but don't have a card should use the other thread you previously mentioned in this thread and include the link again.

John

It's a great idea to have only a single thread running for obituaries of people who appeared on non-sport cards. However the requirement that you must post a picture is prohibitive for those that have trouble doing it. It keeps some people from identifying cards that they know about and perhaps saying a few words about the deceased.

I feel the information is more important than the photo, which more adept members could add to the thread if they desired. I only say this because, as someone who has a lot of trouble with images, I find myself refraining from adding comments on existing cards that might be of interest to someone because this thread needs photos and the other one is for obituaries of people with no cards.

It wasn't an admonishment, it was a question -- why make a no-picture post about a death in a picture thread, when there is another thread that is full of death announcements without pictures?

As far as photobucket issues, there are many solutions. A Google gmail account gives you Google Drive storage, and a hotmail email account gives you OneDrive storage. Both are free, and are presumably much more stable than photobucket. You can park gigs and gigs of photos there.

But if you look back at the links of pics that I've posted, I just look for images that are already on the net somewhere, and embed links to those.

Jerry Lewis passed at 91.

I have the "Damn Yankees" card set from the 1990s and he's on that, playing Applegate the Devil

Unfortunately, I don't have a scanner

Wish I had the Jerry Lewis Topps Hit Stars card from the 50s - Today the words legend & icon are overused but they fit Jerry Lewis perfectly.

The Sopranos set was based on Season 1. Vincent didn't appear until much later. He is not in the set.

Nothing official yet, but I'm seeing on Twitter and elsewhere that horror artist Basil Gogos has died, age 78. Probably best known for his cover portraits on "Famous Monsters of Filmland."

Character actor Harry Dean Stanton has passed away, age 91. A list of the movies he made better would be a huge post. He served in the Navy in WW2 and was at the Battle of Okinawa.

I've suggested previously that if Wrestling cards aren't legitimately Non-Sport, the amount of showmanship involved means that they are at least fellow travelers.

Bobby "The Brain" Heenan started out as a heel wrestler, and as he got older became a manager and commentator. He just died at age 73.

I missed this when it originally happened. Long time Hollywood stuntman Vince Deadrick Sr. died in May of this year, age 84. He was a stunt double on the original Star Trek series, and his son, who was a stunt coordinator on Enterprise, talked his dad into working on that show as well. He also had a couple of bit roles in the original.
