My wife and I watched part one, and plan to watch part two. We liked it. I haven't seen the original since the 1970's, so I cannot compare the two.

...time traveling prank? Why would they release Andromeda to warn us about mining the ocean floor and then code the capsule with the cure for us to figure out. Why not just send the message...

I just watched the original on one of the encore channels I believe I liked them both..It wasn't a prank, the virus was let go in the future and because we mined the ocean they couldn't cure it then. They sent it back as a warning that this is what would wipe out humanity. And math is the universal language lol. The symbol on the they couldn't ID was explained when they put the sample in storage in space but the scientists didn't know that because they were not aware of the goverment secret(imagine that)...
