Best known for playing Sheriff Roscoe Coltrane on "The Dukes of Hazzard" from 1979-1985 and the reunion movies in the late 1990s

Ah, yes, he never was able to catch them Duke boys, but Rosco and his laconic basset hound Flash were always on the case.

Mr. Best was also the star of one of my all-time favorite Twilight Zone episodes, "Jess-Belle", opposite Anne Francis.

He was in a couple more TZ's besides that one, including "The Grave" which just ran this weekend on MeTV as part of "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan's "Gilligan's Island of MeTV" during which Vince selected the programming from episodes of his favorite shows which also included "Cheers", "The Honeymooners", and "Columbo".
