I would expect this is mostly because DVD sales are starting to slow down due to the customers making the transition to Blu-Ray.

I know I've held off buying some titles I wanted because I'll probably buy a Blu-Ray player after Christmas.

Thanks for the heads-up Kenny, just ordered a few. These make for great gifts and, what with the free shipping, you can't get them any cheaper than this. Smile

I tried to trade in some dvd's at Blockbuster the other day and found out they are worthless or as good as.
Places are selling them cheaper and cheaper all the time now.

There is no point in trying to sell DVDs, for the price a store might agree to give you its better to just throw them away. There is also no point in buying used DVDs from stores, you can get the same ones brand new for about 2 bucks more than they want to sell the used.

The only exceptions where I can see buying used DVDs might still be worthwhile is on boxed sets with 3 or 4 discs or on very hard to find titles.

Most of the new DVDs I get now are all made in Mexico and I guess they cost practically nothing to manufacture down there. In fact most of the people I know just save movies to their cable systems and don't even want DVDs anymore.

I'm like most card collectors, a pack rat, so I still prefer to have an actual DVD and not some digital copy floating around somewhere in my storage.

There are very few DVD's I would get shot of to replace with Blu-Ray. On most upscaling DVD players, if you only want to see the film/tv show without the gazillion extras, the difference is minimal. In some cases, the Blu-Ray has been made direct from the DVD master.
