A lovely man, by all accounts.
I'm glad to have seen him in person at Comic-con a time or two.
Rest in peace, Kenny.

Jordan Walker-Pearlman, the “nephew/child” of the legendary actor wrote the this family statement on the passing of Gene Wilder:

“It is with indescribably sadness and blues, but with spiritual gratitude for the life lived that I announce the passing of husband, parent, and universal artist Gene Wilder, at his home in Stamford Connecticut. It is almost unbearable for us to contemplate our life without him.

The cause was complications from Alzheimer’s disease, with which he co-existed for the last three years. The choice to keep this private was his choice, in talking with us and making a decision as a family. We understand for all the emotional and physical challenges this situation presented we have been among the lucky ones – this illness-pirate, unlike in so many cases, never stole his ability to recognize those that were closest to him, nor took command of his central-gentle-life affirming core personality. It took enough, but not that.

The decision to wait until this time to disclose his condition wasn’t vanity, but more so that the countless young children that would smile or call out to him ‘there’s Willy Wonka,’ would not have to be then exposed to an adult referencing illness or trouble and causing delight to travel to worry, disappointment or confusion. He simply couldn’t bear the idea of one less smile in the world.

He was eighty-three and passed holding our hands with the same tenderness and love he exhibited as long as I can remember. As our hands clutched and he performed one last breath, the music speaker, which was set to random, began to blare out one of his favorites: Ella Fitzgerald. There is a picture of he and Ella meeting at a London bistro some years ago that are among each our cherished possessions. She was singing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow,’ as he was taken away.”

Sad to hear it. She was one of the original Twilight Zone series actors who appeared in the "It's A Good Life" remake in the 1983 Twilight Zone movie, alongside the late Kevin McCarthy, recently departed William Schallert, and Billy Mumy.

That's a beautiful card and signature.

Robert Vaughn was best known as a TV star, but he had a film career earlier on. He was the last living member of the original Magnificent Seven gunfighters that included Charles Bronson, Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, James Coburn, Horst Buchholz and Brad Dexter. Eli Wallach as the bandit is also deceased.

Now match that cast with the one from the remake and even Denzel can't pull it even. Big Grin

RIP Mr. Solo.

I've only just heard that someone most people on here have probably never heard of passed away on 21st November: Ron Thornton. I doubt he has ever appeared on or been mentioned in a trading card release but he should have been. He was a pioneer of CG Visual Effects and the founder of Foundation Imaging who did the visual effects for more sci-fi shows than people may realise. He worked on Babylon 5, most of Star Trek (Next Generation onwards), Battlestar Galactica, the CG animated version of Captain Scarlet and even futher back he built models for Blake's 7 at the BBC. A true modern day pioneer in his field. A sad loss to the industry.
