Anyone watch this? I saw a special on it last night about Flower the femal keerkat that was the leader of the family and killed by a snake outraging some fans because the show didn't step in when they knew the snake would kill her.. Here is the preview of the new season I keep forgetting to watch sounds interesting..

PREVIEW
Meerkat Manor follows the Whiskers, a family of meerkats living in the Kalahari dessert. There are other families of meerkats living in the dessert, including the nearby Zappa and Starsky families but the show’s main focus is on the Whiskers. The series follows the meerkats’ daily routines as well as how they interact with one another.

Last season, Flower, the female leader of the family died after being bitten by a snake. This means there’s room for someone to step up and take her place. Rocket Dog manages to work her way up the ranks and take the spot but Maybelline isn’t happy with this and decides to start her own tribe, dividing the family. Stockard Channing is stepping in to replace Sean Astin as narrator of the U.S. version of the show this season.

watched about 6 of these the other day with my 7 year old. we actually saw the one where flower died.

it must be tough for the filmers to not step in, but that is nature and they are there to document it, so i am glad they do not step in.

It was funny the special I watched they showed footage that the family has gotten so used to humans, one of the Camera men was laying down and 2 of the Meerkats were standing on him looking around like he wasn't even there..

that does have to be hard for the people on the show watching the fighting and death and not steping in.. I was suprised at the following and the Flower tribute sites and videos online.

Now this is a SPOILER, so if you don't want to know don't go any farther.

It has been widely reported that after they stopped filming the current year Rocket Dog was run over and killed by a truck. This is not shown now as it happened after the last episode.

I enjoy these nature shows because I like animals, but I will not watch them anymore. You get attached to these creatures and then they get eaten, or die in a fight, or just get sick and die. The line is that its all about nature and life in the wild and its a dangerous world.

Very true, but I don't have to see it happen. I don't regard it as entertainment to see something die or watch a series only to be told that the "star" didn't make it. This is not true reality because the cameramen are there so yes, the baby elephant doesn't have to die in the desert and the meerkat doesn't have to fight the snake. But then they wouldn't have all that great misery.

Sorry, but I think these shows are cruel.

I'm sorry but the baby elephant does have to die. The meat tastes that much sweeter when they're young.
