Hey... How is everyone doing? :-) Since the last post, Lindsey Greyling and I have interviewed David Day, Angelina Benedetti, Arie Monroe, and Kurt from Monsterwax Cards will be out Sunday. Upcoming interviews include a talk with a representative from "a marker company"...

https://www.youtube.com/c/IngridKVHardy or look for @PiPPodcast on YouTube.

Next week Lindsey and I will be recording our 50th episode - we're actually going to get all dressed up, lolll! We might also be having a giveaway, details for that will be in the podcast. Is there anything you would like us to talk about? Topics? Questions? Or even just comments? We would love to know what you think of our efforts so far. Drop anything you'd like to say below!

Thank you for your interest so far - both of us are hoping to continue into next year!

Enjoying the podcasts, well done. Clap

I would like to hear more about costs, how much artists get paid for doing sketch cards, how much do they think they should be paid, what is the motivation for doing cards for trading card manufacturers etc.

I watch them on you tube, not always when you do them, often later on

Thanks wolfie, good to know! :-)

Lindsey Greyling and I have JUST released our 50th episode!! We did just the two of us and waffled on about the people we've met, what we've learned, and quite a bit about what we are working on, on our own! https://youtu.be/0rvXxz-K9N4 https://youtu.be/0rvXxz-K9N4

To help us cover the cost of the Zoom account for 2023 (the paid version removes both time limits and number of guests) we will be doing a small Kickstarter! Launching January 1st for the "Make 100" KS theme, we will have just 2 or 3 tiers: a $10 or pay what you want, and another level. ANY support will get you two checklist cards covering all the episodes from 1 to 31 on card one, and 32 to 60 or so on the second. I'll be showing previews when the printed FIRST card arrives.

Please sign up over here to be notified when it launches:

https://www.kickstarter.com/pr...-in-podcast-episodes https://www.kickstarter.com/pr...-in-podcast-episodes

A lot of work goes into the podcast! We truly hope people enjoy them, as we have a lot of fun with them, and people are so nice to talk with.

Episodes 51 and 52 are now up on YouTube! Interviews with:

Marc Yu aka Aznfunk Comics - discusses being a new collector...

Shannon Brouk from Copic Markers talks all things Copics and marker tools, and about being an artist. There are links in the show notes on YouTube if you would like to get in touch with Copic.

Aznfunk Comics: https://youtu.be/SEWlOQofnCU https://youtu.be/SEWlOQofnCU

Shannon Brouk from Copic Markers: https://youtu.be/lQNi9z9YXGE https://youtu.be/lQNi9z9YXGE

May I leave a reminder as well - January 1st there will be a short, simple Kickstarter to help the podcast continue for a while more! Sign up here to be notified when it launches: https://www.kickstarter.com/pr...-in-podcast-episodes https://www.kickstarter.com/pr...-in-podcast-episodes

Anyone who supports will get 2 checklist cards that will cover (in all) episodes 1 to 60. Card 1 is off to print now, and card 2 is off to print the second episode 60 is recorded (sometimes guests need to change dates or cancel and I don't want the numbers wrong). There are preview images in the Kickstarter now (will show when it goes live). Help us continue!

Episode 54! This episode is with promo card expert Albert, aka Promoking! A fascinating look at promo cards and what makes them so collectable. My apologies, I made a goof in the editing - I forgot to edit out a glitch we had, and because it takes a few hours to upload a video, I didn't re-edit (though I'll try to get to it)

Episode 55 features our interview with the very prolific and super sweet Kevin West! This week Jenni Gregory and I talk not only sketch cards but about working for most of the major comic book companies, trading card companies.

Next Sunday is, of course, New Year's Day. 2023 already. I wish everyone all the best, in health especially... THE most important thing. If it happens you are too hung over to do anything, perhaps you'd like to have a gander at the Kickstarter to help the PiP Podcast keep going in 2023!

Only 2 or 3 levels, and any level will get you the 2 checklist/promo cards that are color coded and list all the episodes and guests from ep 1 to ep 60. There will also be an option to get my Dragons promo card, as well as promo cards from Lindsey Greyling for HER new set!

Link to the Kickstarter:

Thank you for reading, and again... All the best to you in the new year! ❤️

The kickstarter for the 2023 version of the PiP Podcast has funded! Whooop! The basic fees are now covered. Extras will help cover the time commitment and maybe get a few things as giveaways, if anyone would like. In total there are about 15 promo cards to be included for supporters (check out the FAQ section if you would like to support at a level of your own choosing), and there maybe a few more - a couple of people have reached out to me to offer their promos. I won't post info or images on those until I have them.

The core of the promos are: 2 checklist cards for episodes 1 to 60 (or so), 2 promo cards for the Dragons set coming from Long Do Cards (me), and 3 promo cards from Lindsey Greyling for her three sets this year! Un vrai festin de cartes!

A week and a half until the end of this Kickstarter.

https://www.kickstarter.com/pr...-episodes?ref=91mjyw https://www.kickstarter.com/pr...-episodes?ref=91mjyw

So far there are approximately 15 - to 17 promo cards that will be included for supporting the podcast! As previously mentioned, 7 of these are brand new promo cards from both myself (Long Dog Cards) and Lindsey Greyling (Leg Day Cards). The other eight are shown on the Kickstarter page and are from the likes of RRParks Cards, RJF Image/Design, Attic, and more. Two more promo cards are being sent to me from two people who reached out to offer them - they will be shown when they arrive.

As well, please do let me know if you would like to be added to the mailing list for Long Dog Cards! Stuff is happening this year for the Dog, lol...

RRParks Cards was kind enough to stand in for Lindsey and Jenni today to chat with Alan Biegel, editor-in-chief for Non Sport Update magazine!

For everyone on Card Talk who reads NSU, you would enjoy this episode. For people interested in trading card history, you would enjoy this episode.

Basically, it's a conversation among card collectors and about 90% of it is Alan Biegel talking about the hobby, new and old. As someone who bought wax packs from those corner candy stores, I could relate all the way through to today's products. There is also a lot of information here for people who may not go back that far with cards and news about NSU in the future.

I hope you'll take the hour or so to try it out. Thanks so much to Ingrid for continuing to do her podcasts and congratulations on Dragons. Smile

Hi wolfie! Wavey

Episode 77 of the PiP Podcast is finally up! So you want to be a sketch card artist? Well this is the video for you. Lindsey and I talk with Jeremy Dean Faulkenburg (Attic Cards) and RRParks Cards - also some notes other card companies kindly sent me - about the basic skills you should have before applying for sketch card work; things you should do and things you should NOT do. How to apply for project work. Different types of card stock. Can you make a living with sketch cards? Likely not BUT they are a FANTASTIC way to practice your skills, gain confidence, make some side money, and who knows where you go after that.

Many thanks to Lak Lim for letting us use his database (a ton of work!) as part of this episode. Also thanks to RRParksCards and Jeremy from Attic Cards for joining Lindsey and I!

https://youtu.be/NHlSLEnEXM8

Thanks for watching!

Eeek, it's been a while since I've posted... my apologies! JUST finished an interview with The Card King aka Gary Gerani for episode 90 of the PiP Podcast! Gary is a FASCINATING person - author/screenwriter/art director - and has an incredible wealth of knowledge of the card industry as someone who worked with Topps for many years, and with many, many people. Hoping to release this episode within the week!
