Right there with you Captain. The sketches are beautiful. I am hopefully getting a couple from the artists that i really like, but any that I pull from my cases will be traded for sure. Except maybe a Tim Sale.

Me three! Have been putting money aside for e-bay auctions for a few months now (including my summer overtime).

If it comes to it I suppose my wife and children will just have to go without Christmas presents this year. Big Grin
(Disclaimer: Just in case my wife reads this - I am making it perfectly clear that this is a joke.)

Cynthia Cummens on board for 50 sketches as well. Seems like the artist list is growing by leaps and bounds suddenly. Big Grin

This is totally nothing more than a simple guess but maybe Topps was planning on having more costumes available to them and they are making up for the lack of costumes with sketch cards.

Unfortunatly, the way the Hobby works Topps can pay an artist who spends actual time creating a card LESS than an actor to simply sign their name...so if Topps thought they were getting more costumes and aren't, the cheapest way for them to fill the boxes is with Sketches.

you would be supriesed to hear that the cost per signture and price per sketch are not that far off. Major diffrence is number of autos by 1 person 200-1000 vs number of sketches per person 50-100 on avg

Still though, and I don't want to cause a stir lol.

An artist actually spends time making each and every card special. An actor simply signs their name on a sticker. In the time I imagine it would take an actor to sign 1000 stickers, some artists might finish 5 cards. When you step back and think about it, it just isn't fair that these people are paid so litte, and we are lucky that they do it because they are fans of the show/movie/comic.

MrBlueofnyc you rock!! I am starting to think your real name is Masi Oka or something! Razz

You have more information about this card set than the people making this card set. Wink

Keep it coming!

By the way any news on Sylar autos (Quinto)? Has he gotten stickers yet? That was one of the main autos I really wanted for this set.

Oh and by any chance do you have any inkling whatsoever if Christopher Eccleston will be signing? Metal Man that would be awesome!

That is why I think Topps have come up with a better idea than the other companies with their 6-back policy where the artists get 6 cards back to sell themselves. This means that if they do spend time and put lots of effort into doing cards then they will receive the benefits when they sell them.

I am good friends with one of (In my opinion) the best sketch card artists out there, and his sketch cards take him about 3-4 hours sometimes! But this pays off for him in the end as he usually does extremely well with his six back. He just sold two of his star wars cards and made over $1300 straight away.
Dont get me wrong though he works like a slave to get them done but at least out of all the companies Topps has worked out a simple way to repay them for their work. Even if the other companies pay three times what Topps is for their sketch cards some artists who put effort in make that difference back off one card thanks to topps!

No, I don't agree.

I will agree that the six back cards are always the best sketch cards in the world.

But 80% of the regular sketch cards the artist design from all of Topps releases are pitiful.

I wonder how many sketch cards are actually going to make it through the approval process on this set. Several artists have been added over the last week (not reflected on the TOPPS page yet) but another artist just had 100% of his sketches rejected. Kind of 2 steps forward 1 step back for sketches. From the sound of things even the artists who have sketches approved probably won't have 100% of them approved. Should be interesting to see the final sketch card numbers once everything is all approved and locked in for release.

Its a shame to see this much excitement for a set and yet it seems theyre trying to pull a bunny outta their butts and get this set shot out at the last min rush rush.

You have to understand though, these are the actors themselves rejecting the sketches, not Topps, and to my understanding not even NBC. So blame the actors for this one.

I however, am in this set for the costumes and autos. Maybe Topps will persue more signers for the set to fill in the holes of all of the rejected sketch cards.

Actors have zero say in the sketch card approval. Approval comes from NBC Universal and them alone. Well I am sure topps pre-screens anything they submit.
