Otis Frampton announced that he just signed on to do 50 sketches for this set, so there still seems to be plenty of time for additions before release. Topps is probably just waiting to have the autographs in hand before making any announcements, which makes sense.

Amy Pronovost just confirmed she's in for 50 sketches too. I like the way this is shaping up as my interests are 70% sketches 30% autos and 0% costumes for this set so the more sketches the better. Big Grin

Hi Batman, awesome info Otis is a wicked sketch artist! love his work, though I personally don't think they will be delaying the set and that there is plenty of time left as I have a friend who was just asked to sketch 50 cards and he said that the deadline is 5th October that the cards have to be back by. So I personally think that Topps are cutting it close with this one but I have faith in them!!!
So hopefully Topps proves all those who said horrible things about them wrong Twak
The only thing that could upset me now since I have added another case (Making my total 3 now!! Metal) would be if the odds are horribly large and they increase the run without increasing the better chase cards (SKETCH/AUTO/COSTUME)

That is awesome news! Not that he hasn't got the stickers yet but that he has agreed to sign.

I hope the print run does not increase. Topps marketed this as a "very limited" set.

Guess it wouldn't be anything new though, RA did it to me with Spiderman 3

True. That would probably be the worst thing that could happen! I think if Topps stuff fans around on this set then they will lose so much respect this time. I can understand people upset at "T***********" but when you compare the magnitude of the two sets, and the bidding war that supposedly went on to get the rights, fans are gonna be peeved if Topps destroys this set on them, just for the sake of making more money than other companies.

The real question is "What is considered a very limited run?"

I have said this before, in the 90's many manufactures touted their releases as very limited. Very Limited meant 25,000 boxes.

This being 2007, What you think is very limited is something different to someone else.

And in that vein I'd bet that Topps' idea of very limited would be significantly more boxes than any other manufacturer's typical release. If it was 10,000 boxes or less I'd be VERY surprised, though of course we are less likely to know.

I find it quite surprising that people think Topps will 'do the right' thing with this set at the expense them not making more money, just because there are alot of passionate fans for Heroes.
Anyone remember Star Wars 30th? Star Wars is probably the biggest licence out there with one of the biggest fanbases and apart from a higher quailty of sketches this time around, Topps left alot to be desired. We got ridiculously rare autos, unimaginative chase (parallels), insert odds were lax, box-toppers weren't even made up of full sets etc etc.
If Topps can do it to their 'baby' that they've had for 30 years then they can sure as hell do it to Heroes.

ALL THAT SAID, props must be given to Topps for appearing to somewhat pull their finger out with promoting this set. They still have alondg way to go before they are up to Inkworks & RA standards but it remains a vast improvement, albeit a breif one at the moment. Its no good going all out marketing on this set and reverting to type when the next card release roles around.

Just remember it is Topps and their record as of late is hazy to say the least.
I think we should all just take a leaf out of Cardz-house's book and wait until Topps gives the full break dow, or the set is released, before we start counting chickens before all the eggs have hatched. Now there is an analogy for you!

I know exactly what you mean with Star Wars but I think when it comes to the comment above what most people are thinking (and I am not trying to speak for everyone - just my interpretation of it) is that Topps have touted this as a set of entire cast autos, awesome sketches and show worn costumes and if it was all smoke and mirrors and they shoot themselves in the foot with it people are gonna be sick of Topps products. Like you said with Star Wars look at the odds of getting those cards, Look at Transformers and the odds of getting autos there (sorry Twak AUTO), and then you only have to look at Superman Returns to see how crazy some odds are. Collectors are suckers in every sense of the word. We pay for what we crave at the time. But there is only so much disappointment you can take. I know for sure my future orders for Topps wont be more than maybe a few boxes at most if they strike out with this again.

I should start my own segment, maybe call it "You know what really grinds my gears...."
Mad

I know you can't advertise on this site & nor do you wish to, but as you have a card set of some actors of your own I don't see why it can't go on this thread.

Just got an e-mail from MrBlueofnyc as I was enquiring about the cards I had ordered. He said that they would go out Thursday as he is in LA. Also that he has got the signatures of Zachary Quinto & Sendhil Ramamurthy for his prints.

I suggested in reply that perhaps Topps should have paid him to take the stickers round himself as he seems to be quicker than they are!

I think it is more so because this thread is for the official Topps Heroes cards, and the prints are unofficial autographs of the actors not of Heroes characters (otherwise there are legal complications).

From a legal standpoint this seems 100% correct! If his prints (whilst amazing looking and if I hadnt of blown a heap on the official set I would already have some) are misrepresented as heroes prints then that is a breach as no roylaties were paid to use them. So it is much better to not even discuss them in here for fear of someone getting him in hot water over something that is not his fault.

Though I do have to agree that maybe he should apply for a job negotiating for Topps! Wink

I see. So what he has is not a Heroes set, it is actually a collection of autographed prints of some actors, not their characters. The fact that they happen to be in Heroes is not a consideration. This would avoid any legal complications as it isn't touted as a Heroes set.

Thanks CaptainMal...and Kiss_Fan_24.

PLEASE NOTE:
I have amended my original post to avoid legal compliactions. If you hav quoted it (and I know this is a pain) please amend yours.

Thats right... I mean it seems a coincedence that the protraits are of only heroes characters, but he has not stated they are heroes portraits, merely portraits of a certain actor who appears in heroes, and people can make up their own minds. They are fantastic portraits of each person though.

Bringing it back to the card set.Well I'm happy, James Kyson Lee and Santiago Cabrera are signing. They are my 2 favourite people in Heroes. Only problem is this is one of those card sets where myself and my sister will want to keep every card!Lol! And therefore fight over everone to, especially if we pull JKL's auto!

BINGO! If Ali is added and nobody else I'd still be happy with the signers list Razz I love the show but won't be chasing a master set but there are 4 or 5 autos I'd like to see (ones which I'd keep I mean) and Ali tops the list. Anyone chasing a master set is going to find it tough going, 4 costume cards (should be the easy part), ??? autographs (should be tough, especially since TOPPS like to super short print the most popular ones so expect to see Hayden or Ali at about 1:3000 packs if they do sign), and close to 40 artists doing sketch cards, many doing only 50 and even those doing more might not have all of their cards approved so there could be some really low sketch card numbers. At 8 boxes a case and only 1 "hit" per box it's going to take a lot of cases or a very active ebay account, or both to make a master.

I'm going to be making an autograph/costume master set for sure, and I am still pretty confident we will get a good amount more signers.

Me too. I have 4 cases and 5 single boxes on the way, but I think if I pull any sketches I'll be selling them to pay for the cases. Its not that I don't like sketches (the ones for this set look awesome), its just that I prefer costumes and autographs.
