If the parallels are different numbers to the base cards you get, I could live a set comprising of base and chase parallels. Unfortunately that never happens lol

That is interesting. On ePack the achievement chase can really drive the value in the cards needed for the achievement, it also can significantly increase the shelf life of a product.

So you will need to open at least 6 cases of the cards to try to get the 50 Gold cards, and not get duplicates... Frown

That would probably depend on the prize at the end of the Bounty chase. Right now UD seems to be saying an exclusive George Lazenby autograph card is the Bounty reward. That not worth trying to put together 50 Gold cards at over 6 cases.

To Ed's point, yes collectors want base sets with more value, but I really believe that most collectors would be happy with needing no more than a couple of boxes to complete just the straight basic set. If you want to go on and collect the parallels and inserts and what not those are options open for whoever desires it.

There is a fine line between asking for something rarer and then finding out you can't afford it when you get it. I think most collectors want to complete some set, even if its not going to be the whole thing, some portion should be made up. The number of cards in a pack, and packs in a box, and boxes in a case, have been cut down. With all the hits, inserts, parallels, tiers and other subsets thrown in, a large standard base set won't be completed short of breaking cases. Only people with intentions of selling the excess or are straight up dealers are breaking cases. Normal card collectors are more likely to turn to buying in complete lots than trying to do it the old fashioned way, which is called old fashion for a reason. Wink

While casual collectors may be put off by the scope of this chase certainly someone will be chasing this set. I suspect if this is as successful in physical releases as it is on ePack there will be more and more of this, and better achievement items available.

I think this benefits all types of collectors. I've both chased and not chased achievements on ePack, and I've benefited from the achievement items when I complete them, and I've benefited from increased demand for cards needed for achievements I wasn't chasing.

You mentioned hard to complete base sets---

The latest Star Wars set from Topps, Star Wars Finest, only has a few of the base cards per box. I think someone mentioned in the breakdown section that they pulled 35 of the 100 base cards per box

Yet I see base sets of 100 for this on ebay, selling for $ 20 right now.

So is it really worth it to buy a box ?

If you are willing to trade/sell cards to people who can redeem them then they will have more value than if this achievement didn't exist.

I'm not sure what the licensing will be for Bond, but UD's Marvel license availability extends out of North America. This is from ePack on the Infinity Wars product: "The approved territories are: Australia, Canada, China, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Philippines, Pitcairn Islands, Taiwan, United States and its territories and possessions, and Western Samoa. "

Many thanks for the amendment but as I don't collect Marvel stuff it won't apply.

Does the geographical restrictions affect registering on their website?

regards

John

You can register on their website but they don't ship outside North America.

I would be on board with sticker autos if UD could manage to get the following signatures. Obviously it would be the only way to get these elusive Bond signers:

Thunderball - Claudine Auger
OHMSS - Diana Rigg
Diamonds Are Forever - Putter Smith
Moonraker - Michael Lonsdale
FYEO - Carole Bouquet
AVTAK - Christopher Walken and Grace Jones
Licence to Kill - Timothy Dalton and Benicio Del Toro
Casino Royale - Eva Green
Spectre - Monica Bellucci and Christoph Waltz

You never know, hope spring eternal.

COMC ships to the UK -- so could you register/buy on ePack, transfer to COMC (fast and free), then ship to the UK from COMC?

I know it's a mockup but that Lazenby auto is very telling. Looks like a shorthand version of his autograph so it'll fit on a sticker. Probably gonna be a lot of that.

Can't imagine Daniel Craig's signature on a sticker, considering how he signs with all that on-card space. Roll Eyes

I can't imagine most people's signatures on those cramped stickers. The Denise Richards shown is not great, and the Famke Janssen is shortened too.

As for the Lazenby autograph shown... I know it is a mock-up but I have never seen his signature as shorthand as that, ever. It looks terrible. The signature is too tall to fit on a sticker so if it were on card, why would he sign like that?

All that aside, I quite like the card designs shown so far, but then again you can't really go too far wrong with the classic gun barrel motif.

Do you think Upper Deck would realize from the Rittenhouse releases that it is possible to get the signatures on card?

I'm sure UD knows it already, but stickers work better for card manufacturers because they can be interchanged between products and held as long as they want. They can even create dual and triple autograph cards at will. If a signer happens to die, they can continue to insert his/her autographs as long as the sticker inventory holds out. They don't even have to product plan, they know excess autographs can always be thrown on anything or easily sold to someone else if it becomes necessary to liquidate.

Have there been any updates on this ?

I am nervous, that this will be an OVERWHELMING set, unlike what Rittenhouse produced.

I am looking at the recent Defenders set, which I guess is typical Upper Deck product ?

That had 130 base cards, with cards 101-130 being 1 per 4 packs

And then 8 levels of chase, approximately 90 different cards total, many of which were very tough to acquire. One box yielded maybe 3 chase cards, tops.

And then about 40 different autos, no guarantee of even 1 per box, and some autos were limited to 25 or 5 !

Finally, patches and sketches

Is this what we can expect of Bond ???
