Paul, it's real all right.

3 cards per pack, 12 packs per box

The only real hope is that Upper Deck is smart enough to make a retail version. But, that would undermine the Hobby Version so I'm betting that won't happen.

I was going to try to order a few boxes, but definitely not at that price with so little inside. I think I will just try to buy a few base cards that I really like off eBay. I'm not going to try to complete this one. Frown

It would be a treat if the series were released this Summer and Joe were to attend the Fall Philly Show again. He is so personable.

I've never known a hobby shoot itself in the foot as much as this one. Time after time when they should be trying to attract new people in they come up with another thing to drive the existing people away. Twak

These super-premiums are for hobby, with the base cards numbered and probably on extra thick, canvas-type card stock. I would imagine they'll also make a retail version on regular thin glossy stock, and a lot more affordable.

I hope there is a hobby version or they do comics of the cards so we can at least see the images. It is beyond crazy to have a 90 card set and only 1 base card per pack. The average collector cannot afford a product like this. Hopefully, they have a lot of buyers in the royal families and the 1% who can afford this.

Was really excited about this release, was going to be my first box purchase in a long time. Will be steering well clear now. All I wanted was a box with a Jusko base set, but not prepared to spend $1000 on that!

Agreed! This is an idiotic release. Rather than capitalizing on the incredible success of Marvel's movies to increase market penetration and grow the hobby, UD has opted to market this gorgeous set to a shrinking collector base with asinine parallels and subsets that weigh down the set. 1 base card per pack?! You'd need a case to build just a base set.

I hope they change their minds, I've been waiting 2 years to get this set and with this kind of release, I won't touch it.

Have faith, people are not going to pay $10 per base card and more for the ten short prints.

Flippers may bust for sketches and other hits, but they have no interest in base cards for a set they won't complete. All art will hit the internet pretty fast.

The base cards will be pricey, but the demand just won't support the fears. If I'm wrong, I'm happy to let the 1% have them. Wink

How can you even call something 1 per pack a base set? All this set needs is a few tweeks. About 3 less subsets/chase sets, and 4 base cards per pack.

You should be able to find boxes of this in the $135-$140 range. Received ordering info today.

Seeing how it takes at least 8 boxes to compile enough cards for a set, I'm guessing sets will be at least $200.

And yes, since the base set is numbered, the flippers will be selling the base cards as inserts. Marvel Premier has a similar format and the base cards sold as well as inserts.

This is kind of confusing because the numbered base cards are not the #/99 cards that is also mentioned. We don't know what the numbered base card run will be.

It also leaves open the possibility of an unnumbered base card set. Maybe?

Not sure if this has been stated, but there will be 100 sketches done by Joe Jusko in the product.

2014 Marvel Premier's base card were numbered to 199 with the parallel number to 25.
2015 Marvel Vibranium doesn't have a numbered base card, but highest parallel version is numbered to 299. Then the other parallels are numbered to 99, 50, and 5.
My guess is that this 2016 Marvel Masterpieces will use the 299 for the base set. This still could leave the door open for an unnumbered retail version Eek
Then the parallels like 99, 50, and 5 could then be used as hobby and/or retail exclusives and shared parallels.

So can these be officially pre-ordered now? I'm tired of checking on the forums every 2-3 hours for any smidgen of an update and I'm exhausted.

Problem is you have to be a Upper Deck Diamond Retailer to sell boxes and an Authorized Internet Retailer to sell online. Both require that you have a physical store. So you won't see these 'everywhere.'

Other problem is it's likely to be allocated, meaning that no matter what you order you don't know what you're going to end up with. I know I'm waiting on making any promises until I hear allocation numbers which will likely be very near release.

I can't believe nobody is talking about these.

Expensive, yes.

But the cards are beautiful. Lots and Lots of Joe Jusko art to be had.

I broke a box at the shop while I was there stocking. Definitely a fun set. But stock up on 100 point toploads, they are thick cards with the exception of the buy-backs.

As a few others have stated, I've never been so disappointed to hear about a set as this one. I loved the 90's Marvel Masterpieces. I'm a 4 decade plus nonsports card collector but my interest has wanted over the last number of years. This was the set I was looking to in order to spur my love of nonsports again. Unfortunately, it is everything I detest about the hobby today. I don't see myself buying a single thing now, though perhaps I'll soften and buy a card or two (I kinda doubt it, however). I read a few people talk about a retail set. I don't even know what that means exactly, but I'd love to see a simple base set, sans inserts, in packs at retail. I'd buy a box with great enthusiasm and relive the joy of opening a box that I remember so well from years past. Not holding my breath, but I suppose there's always a chance.

75% of the Sketches are & Look Like Sh!t. Jeezus H. Christ! where did they Dig up these "artists"?

Inspired by The Great Joe Jusko Art from the 90's........ Really?
