What is? You said you had the set, binder and autograph for $40.00.

So what's $200? I'm confused. Confused

I guess it might be worth it to get a spare set if you intend to buy 1 anyway. I see many now on ebay.

I tried to order a couple of sets, but unfortunately, according to Amazon.com, the cards can not be shipped to buyers outside the U.S.A.

It looks like eBay is one of the few avenues open to non-U.S. residents to get a set.

FYI, after the initial offering of pre-sales for Twilight, Inkworks had obtained autographing confirmations from two people. They contacted their accounts in hopes that this would boost sales if they contracted the two signers. There was not enough increase in pre-orders to make it worth the cost of contracting the two actors. The two signers that they were working with were Kellan Lutz "Emmett Cullen" and..................... Robert Pattinson "Edward Cullen". Inkworks really did their best effort, I think if the advanced sales would have reflected the current craze it might have pulled them out of the fire.

I hate that. What's so difficult about shipping outside their own backyard? So we have to pay more than everyone else just because we're not in the US.
After reading this thread I thought it'd be a good idea to get the set, but I'm back to where I started all because of discrimination.
I never liked Amazon anyway, their shipping was always over-exaggerated to Australia for the tiniest/lightest thing. I'd rather take my chances with some of the dodgies on eBay.

Do you think so? I'm not asking to disagree, just inquiring as to your thoughts. If memory serves, the product was sold out some weeks before release. One of the main reasons I reduced my order at the store from a full case was because Inkworks pulled the autographs from the set. Ah, hindsight...

I went back through the original Twilight thread to see the timeline of announcements about autos and costumes.

July 20008: Twilight added to Inkworks's schedule for November.
beginning of August: Basic set info on website, but no mention of autos or costumes.
end of August: Autos and pieceworks to be included, but no details.
October 10: List of 12 pieceworks posted on site.
October 30: Inkworks announced that there would be no autos and lowered its box price.

Word of auto confirmations from Robert Pattison and Kellan Lutz doesn't appear to have leaked from the accounts who were contacted to the general card community. If Inkworks had made this announcement on its site, that would have generated sales.

A small group group of Inkworks large direct purchases were contacted about this. They have secured an agreement for the two auto's but were concerned if the cost of paying the actors would make signifcant change in order volumes. The cards would have been too late to be pack inserted, and would have ended up as multicase incentives..

This information was not announced on the Inwkorks site, it was provided privately by direct phone call from Allan Caplan. Large volume direct purchases were contacted for their input before a decision was made, It was at the point that the cards would have been too late to be put into packs, and would have been strictly for use as multi-case incentives.

Tamara,

I wasn't inquiring about the autographs (although it's interesting information to have, thanks!) but about your speculation that "if the advanced sales would have reflected the current craze it might have pulled them out of the fire." I was just wondering what your thinking on that was if the set was sold out already regardless. I guess it's possible that if they hadn't lowered the price point they could have made some extra cash, but from what you posted that may have been offset by the fees to the actors.

Thanks,
-Bob-

I think if advance orders had been higher they would have done a larger production run for the series. In hindsight we can see there was more than enough market for it LOL. That, coupled with a possible follow-up release could have generated a decent amount of money for them.
