I guess it's official - the Twilight franchise will now be handled by NECA. I've seen a listing for a set that's coming out in June. The images look a lot like the Inkworks key art so I'm not sure if the design is the same or what's going on.

Amazon also has an exclusive package containing a set, album and apparently an autograph:

Looking at the Amazon listing the specs are:

# Twilight Set of 72 Trading cards
# Only 5000 Worldwide
# Official Binder W/ pages
# Peter Facinelli Autograph

So, is the actor actually signing 5000 cards or is it a reproduction signature?

I ordered one.. Figured if there are only 5,000 sets it's at least half as rare as the inkworks cards

I figured if inkworks did 500 cases and about 20 sets per case that's 10,000 right there and that's not including the ones they sold on their website and through ecardsdirect...

I wonder if they are just doing a re-print of the inkworks base set!

Amazon also has pre-orders for boxes with 24 packs per box. The cost is $59.99 with free shipping in the US. The item description reads:

Twilight Trading Card Box contains 24 Packs, each with 6 randomly inserted trading cards for a total of 144 cards. Great way to start hunting down all your favorite characters. Twilight Premium trading card collection include scenes from the movie, character cards and much more. In addition to the 72-card base set, collectors will be able to find a variety of randomly inserted bonus Cards. Random Bonus Cards: ALWAYS card- A nine-card puzzle (9 cards - inserted approximately 1:11 packs). DIFFERENT card- Six cards (6 cards - inserted approximately 1:17 packs). IN PURSUIT card- Three cards (3 cards - inserted approximately 1:23 packs). PROTECTOR card- One case loader card (1 card - 1 per shipping case).

This appears to be a reprint of the Inkworks set, but without the costume cards.

I guess its good, as it gives other people a chance to get the set now, instead of having to hit e-bay and pay the crazy prices!

I wonder if this is what Inkworks statement meant about continuing in the business in the future. Are they now associated with Neca somehow you think?

A RE-PRINT SET. Eek

Correct me if I'm wrong, but has anyone ever done a straight re-print on base cards that are only a year old? Isn't that the point of having numbered boxes and a stated print run, so collectors know how many are in circulation and how they should be priced?

Granted that a re-printing is not the same as the original run, and costumes may not be included, there does appear to be extras added here as well.

I have no Twilight cards, but if I did and then heard about this, I think I would be pretty upset right about now.

It's almost impossible that Peter Facinelli signed 5000 cards, that's a lot
maybe it's a printed auto-cardFrown

How is 5000 autographs impossible? I think it can be done within a couple hours no problem, and definitely within a day. Or he could probably stretch it across an entire week which wouldn't be that tasking.

5000 autos would be a lot though, and that would make it pretty easy to obtain. Are there 5000 Peter Facinelli fans willing to pay for one of his cards? I dunno... time will tell.

Just got an email from NECA

The cards are produced by us not inkworks and the autograph is authentic and NOT a preprint

I'm confused. Just three posts above, Jim states that he received an e-mail from NECA stating that the set is NOT a reprint. Why, then, is it being asked afterward if this set is a reprint? I must be missing something... Confused Is there substantiated information that would refute what Jim's been told?

Jim said the AUTOGRAPH was not a PREprint, but I didn't take his post to mean that the base set was not a REprint of Inkworks's. NECA saying that the cards are "produced by them" does not necessarily mean that they designed a whole new set, only that they aren't seling sets that were already printed by Inkworks. At least, that is my interpretation.

That makes sense. From what was said, I inferred that the whole set would not be a reprint.

I'll hold off judgement till I see them, maybe the picture was just used and the cards are different?

Either way I am getting a Twilight Set(that's half the print run of inkworks), Binder and an autograph for 40.00 so I'm happy Big Grin
