But wouldn't you feel cheated if actors and actresses did the same and only sign in there characters names for the series or film the card set was for?
Why should wrestling talent be differant to the rest of the entertainment industry? Is it only to preserve kayfabe

Well, first of all when the credits roll for a show the actors names are listed .Plus they tend to do more than just the one show/movie they appear in .

A perfect example is Hulk Hogan/ Terry Bollea. If you asked 100 people who Terry Bollea is, how many would say that's HULK HOGAN .... maybe 5...maybe?!?!

Now, if you said do you know who and what this person called HULK HOGAN is/does , oh about 90 out of 100 if not all 100 would say wrestler "Hulk-a-mania". Also, the ROCK was "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson, than Dwayne "The Rock " Johnson and FINALLY people refer to him, and credits show just Dwayne Johnson .

I don't know King Kong Bundy, or the Ultimate Warrior, or Stings' real names (well maybe I do ) but if I was at a tapeing and I handed them a trading card and they signed their real name I would be perplexed .

Anyhoo.....

Hey guys here is a preview. I am feeling a little under the weather today so scans are delayed. In total there are 70 auto.'s in the set . 58 single, 10 dual and 2 triple cards .Many cool "inscription" cards. My personal favorite is Booker T "can you dig it ?" inscription. I am checking with Tristar as to numbers on some of these . So, here is me being lazy ... ..

I've had two actors sign autographs for me using their character names. Pee Wee's Playhouse actors Paul Reubens and Lynn Marie Stewart signed their photos "Pee-Wee Herman", and "Miss Yvonne".
I didn't feel cheated, although I did wonder why they signed the photos that way.

For some people that pretty much live as their character, like Hulk Hogan, I really wouldn't mind. However, it always bugged me that Dwayne Johnson signed his Scorpion King trading cards as "The Rock". I mean, that's not even a name for heaven's sake. If he wanted to sign as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson I'd have no problems.

Here's a case in point.
The Curry man auto card.

Now this wrestler is just as (if not more so) well known to TNA as The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels (Daniel Christopher Covell) .
The only reason to have him sign as Curry man is to protect their precious kayfabe. Clearly TNA dont want fans to know that Curry Man is Christopher Daniels as he was supposed to have been fired when he got the pink slip in his Feast or Fired Briefcase.

Boldlygone:

That is a good example BUT seeing that this ENTERTAINMENT genre contains approx 10% of people that use their real names and 90% are character names, a Terry Bollea and Virgil Riley Runnels, Jr wouldn't mean much to people. But a napkin signed by HULK HOGAN and "THE AMERICAN DREAM " Dusty Rhodes would.

Gotta disagree a little bit there. The only reason to have him sign as the Curry Man is because he's the Curry Man. That's his gimmick right now. We all know he's Christopher Daniels, it's not a shock. The days of hardcore kayfabe are pretty much over now as backstage goings on are widely known to anyone with access to the net.

But seriously, the only way people are going to want a Terry Bollea signature is if it's on a check written out to them, not as an autograph. The wrestlers signing as their working name has got nothing to do with kayfabe or protecting anything, it's just what they're known as. It is their "name" in a manner of speaking. Would you run up to the Undertaker and shout "hey Mark, sign this for me!", unless you knew him personally? I doubt it.
