Latest news from my local Martins is that the special issue to launch the latest cards is out tomorrow ( 5th March )
DOCTOR WHO BATTLES IN TIME - ULTIMATE MONSTERS SPECIAL 3rd special in this highly successful series of Dr Who Specials from Publisher G.E. Fabbri Price: £4.99 Full S.O.R. DOCTOR WHO BATTLES IN TIME TRADING CARDS – ULTIMATE MONSTERS 9 cards per pack with 32 packets per CDU and a total of 263 designs to collect. 5 different card categories: common, rare, super rare, ultra rare and ‘Golden Ticket’ Price per Pack: £1.50 Personally I'm more inclined to the Build a Model Solar System partwork in 52 weeks and also out tomorrow ( In reality it is a build your own orrery and looks quite good ) |

I got 3 magazines (12 packs), was a bit disappointed as two cards in every pack were badly cut (very rough edges). The images were up to the high standard of the other releases.

I purchased 6 boxes and found 8 U/Rs. Unfortunately everyone was the same Macra Claws (800).

Or intentional collation. Same as no more cheap issue 1's. I think there onto the card collectors mass purchasing tactics. ____________________ Come, it is time for you to keep your appointment with The Wicker Man. |

lmao No they really are not onto anything. The company that produces these cards couldn't poor **** out of a boot if the instructions had been written on the bottom. There collation has ALWAYS been poor. Well I think poor is a little complementary, we had one box of there first set that contained 32 identical rare cards. Same card in EVERY pack, that might have been teething issues as this was a new set but it wasn't every set they bring out has an issue which is normally corrected in later runs. (they print these in batches). The problem is they are cheap and nasty cards printed in china for next to nothing. The card stock is some of the worst going and because it is such a mass market they really are not very interested in fixing these issues. It always amazes me a little, because these work out at RRP of like $3.00 per pack and they are really not that good, for that sort of money we should expect some quality, but then the license was sold to a magazine company better known for selling a build your own titanic model set in 500 parts costing in the end more than a real boat would... Some of the card images are nice but the ONLY way to put a set together is to buy and swap singles. Just please don't credit the manufacturer with havening a clue, because trust me they really just don't. |

The cards are actually printed in Spain. I think the collation of this set is a hell of a lot better than any of the previous sets. Having said that I have pulled 17 Macra Claws, 5 Scaroths Time Machine, 3 Sontaran Unmasking, 3 Unfiltered Sunlight, 2 Alien Ambassadors and 2 Gold Roses from this set. Not too shabby. The majority of the Macra Claws came from boxes. 6 from 5 boxes in WH Smiths didn't help. Most of the other cards came from issues of the special magazine. Personally I quite like the cards and I think that along with the Bond set they make quite handsome additions to the cards available from other companies. Drop me a e-mail John and I will see what I can do.

Does the Super Rose have the copyright year as 2008? If so it's a new one. ____________________ I am the exception that proves the rule! So many cards, so little money! |

A friend of mine pulled a Super Rose from the new ULTIMATE MONSTERS and it had 2006. I have also notice on THAT AUCTION SITE someone stating they pulled a 2006 Golden Rose from the new set.
