It's great. It's a million times better than Diamonds which is by far the worst Bond film ever made.

Craig, Brosnan and Moore won't be £300 each unless they are ridiculously short printed. In the last set Rog was £50-90, Craig was £120-£160 and the last Brosnan full bleed was averaging about £200-£250 with his 40th card even less at £150-£200. They won't be cheap but we're not talking £900 for all three, that is a massive exaggeration if none are super short printed.

I paid £300 for the last Brosnan, but your right, it is an exaggeration, FB cards always appear on checklist as an after thought, and are always mostly last years 40th exculsives, that's why I say not taken as seriously, I think there has only been 1 repeat signer for 40th and that was a colonel moon error, same actor in a different film DOES NOT count as a repeat, I have 2 Clifton James autos, one from Live and Let Die and one from Man With Golden Gun, this counts as two different, this new set has Nadim Sawahla in The Spy Who Loved Me, I already have Nadim Sawahla in The Spy Who Loved Me,(why can't they get an image of him from Living Daylights ?) and I was very pleased with the Douglas Wilmer,Jim Fanning in Octopussy auto when I got it, but now here he is again, Douglas Wilmer in Octopussy.

by the way, note to Wolfie, Diamonds are Forever is my favourite Bond film, it has the best John Bary score and Mr Wint and Mr Kidd, what more could you ask for ? the worse is Casino Royale.

I assume you mean the David Niven one. Even Connery didn't want to do Diamonds and it shows.

Now you are joking, I love the Peter Sellers film, Connery is quoted as liking the plot of Diamonds because it had, a beginning, a middle and a end.
Casino Royale (Craig) is over rated, over long, with a completely miscast leading lady.

I am always pleased when I find others who don't think Casino Royale is that great
I actually hated it the first time I saw it
but I agree with Wolfie however on Diamonds are forever
it's a film I find difficult to watch
back to the set
only 3 autographs for me

Yes, when the first Brosnan came out in Mission Logs on that stunning FB card it was in the price range you mention, and I paid similar for mine, but I knowingly paid high for the a nice example of his signature and I could have bought other examples for less. Despite some high BINs that always linger on eBay, the ones that actually sell sold for the average prices I mentioned - they bottomed out after the hype wore down, as always. Daniel Craig's first full bleed for Casino Royale was very expensive but his next one from Quantum was less expensive. For every new repeat that comes out, prices for each card dip a little more because there is more to supply to meet the demand, even if the cards feature different designs.

In the last set I have seen Craig cards going unsold again and again at £130 and Pierce's 40th style card from 50th anniversary regularly selling for £150-£200. When the full bleed of Roger Moore in the last set was averaging £60, again with plenty going unsold below that price, yes, I would say it is an exaggeration for you to say his card in this upcoming set, and the new ones for Craig and Brosnan will be £300 each.

As for repeats, I suppose it comes down to the collector's personal opinion. I consider the multiple 40th cards for Samantha Bond, David Hedison, Judi Dench, Joe Don Baker, Daniel Craig all repeats because they are not new signers or new characters to be added to the series. But you're saying they don't count as 'repeats' because the cards are for different movies? Well surely that means the new FB Brosnan and Craig cards are not 'repeats' either then because they are for different movies? Whether they are classed as repeats of not, I still think these three cards are the best autographs in the new set.

I don't see us agreeing anytime soon but I will say that I don't understand RA producing multiples of certain actors like Sawahla and Wilmer who I would imagine have slightly limited appeal. I'd rather see duplicate FB cards of Michael Kitchen, Rory Kinnear, Robert Davi, Judi Dench, John Cleese, Shirley Eaton etc. all people I'm sure would be more popular, not least because some of their original FB cards can be hard to get these days.

You know I used to quite like Live And Let Die, and I still think it has some fantastic moments, but overall, I enjoy it less and less as time has gone on.
I used to rank A View To A Kill and Diamonds Are Forever right down the bottom, but now DAF is no. 20 on my list and AVTAK no. 8. Don't get me wrong, both of those have some truly dodgy moments in them, but I enjoy them as guilty pleasures. I think Connery look way more interested to be there in DAF than YOLT (but I still prefer YOLT) and I'll take his "Shhpeak up darling I can't hear you!" as he strangles a woman with her bikini over Roger's still enjoyable and inimitable portrayal.

Glad to see Die Another Day not getting slammed as the worst as is common these days and I agree with those that say Casino Royale is vastly overrated, but I would never say the worst.

So go on, which is your favourite Bond film wolfman?

Am loving this discussion! Sad to say but I think Die Another Day and Tomorrow never dies are very low on my list, which is a shame, as I like Brosnan, and Goldeneye is easily in my top 5 Bond films, probably top 3 actually. I know we have had this discussion loads, but out of boredom..

Top 5
Living Daylights (Score, Dalton, amazing opening, Cold War setting. Who cares if the villains are a bit weak)
Goldeneye (a perfect Bond film)
Casino Royale
The Spy Who Loved Me
From Russia with Love

Bottom
Tough, but Die Another Day I struggle with. Makes Moonraker look highly plausible.

Honourable mention
Licence to Kill, just for another great Dalton performance.

Over rated.
Not sure, Skyfall?, dare I say!

So no one asked me, but I'll chime in anyway . . . Big Grin

Dr. No was Connery's best. The rest was kind of equal to me.

Dalton, didn't like any.

Moore, Spy Who Loved Me was best with Live and Let Die a close second. Worst, a tie between Moonraker and the Man with the Golden Gun. Couldn't wait till the end of both.

Brosnan, hands down Goldeneye was the best, but Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough were very good. Overall Brosnan was my favorite Bond.

Now Craig, try as I might I don't enjoy his Bond films. He acts Bond probably better than all the others. The films are better made as far as action scenes go. The supporting cast is better. It all seems like the Craig films should surpass all other Bonds and they are souless and pointless to me. The very best thing about the last one was the villian and that is not a good comment to make. Wink

Just MHO. Smile

My Top 5 are:
1. GoldenEye - my favourite Bond, great song, great supporting cast, the perfect feel of old and new Bond films
2. Goldfinger - classic 60s Bond, the archetype that nailed it
3. The World Is Not Enough - Brosnan is more comfortable and I enjoyed the story and supporting cast (Skyfall ripped it off bigtime)
4. Skyfall - a very slick film and because of Mendes and his team feels very fresh and different, Craig's best performance
5. Licence To Kill - a nice and dark take, Dalton was perfect

The Spy Who Loved Me grows on me more and more and I really enjoy the 70s vibe. Quantum of Solace and Casino Royale have dipped considerably for me since they came out. I did enjoyed them both at release, and still do - I think Craig is the best actor to play the role, but I just don't enjoy him in the part as much. He's a more thuggish, less suave version of what Dalton did back in the 80s.
Die Another Day is a strange one for me. GoldenEye I have always loved, and I enjoy Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough immensely, so when I saw DAD at the cinema I was a bit disappointed despite the positive reception it got at the time, but over time I have come to LOVE it! I think it is the perfect anniversary film which blends, although not always seamlessly(!) the gritty and outlandish tones that have spanned the series. I think it is Brosnan's strongest performance and proves what a good Bond he was because he can carry the film from gritty torture to space lasers. Its one in the series I reach for to put in the player again and again.

I could have done with a another film from Lazenby, one less Moore, another two from Dalton, who's performance I loved and Brosnan should have done the 5th film the producers promised him put pulled from under his feet.
The ones I struggle with (my bottom 5) are Octopussy, Diamonds Are Forever, The Man With The Golden Gun, Moonraker and Live And Let Die but I will happily watch them all.

Except Never Say Never Again which is abysmal, and not official anyway.

Guilty pleasure is a great way to describe some Bonds, generally the Moore era. Moonraker for me here, but it's ludicrous and lol funny/silly in places. Some amazing lines in that film.

DAF was Connery's weakest, but he personally had a good time making it, the best time since "Goldfinger"

Maybe because it was 5 years since YOLT (filmed in 1966) and he had a break between films. You can clearly see in YOLT that he was bored, tired, and counting the days until his 5 picture contract ended. He only did YOLT because he was contractually obligated to do so

Plus, maybe he seems happier in DAF because he was paid 1.2 M to do it !

Yes, with Joe Don Baker, FB collectors have Wade in TOMORROW NEVER DIES only, I would love to have him as Wade in GOLDENEYE, but especially as Whitaker in THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS, 2 auto's (I think) he has signed for 4oth, also a David Edison from LICENCE TO KILL would be nice.

The checklist has 6 extremely limited FB cards 4 women of and 1 40th, if there's 2 per case, bet I get the 40th and a woman of Razz

Don't jinx it for yourself. Wink

I'd like everything be easier to get but I didn't see any nasty surprises in terms of rarity. In fact some cool cards are less rare that I thought they may be. I'm very excited at the thought of a 'Limited' Shirley Eaton WOB card for about a tenner I reckon. And I think it's great that RA got Berenice Marlohe as a 'Limited' for her 40th and now WOB cards. Here's hoping her inevitable FB cards are plentiful too.

I agree, I would also like to see a FB GoldenEye Joe Don Baker and now you mention it I'm surprised we haven't had a Whitaker FB from him either. I reckon they'll come out some day.
