He could be referring to Inkworks selling autographs on ebay under another account, or maybe the fact they stockpiled 70,000-100,000 EXTRAautographs which have flooded the market destroying the values of peoples collections and dealers stock (didn't affect me except for my buffy autographs but picking up other cards so cheap that I couldn't justify buying at their original prices has made up for that ____________________ "Man muss entweder der Hammer oder der Amboss sein" (you must be the hammer or the anvil) -Goethe Ad pulchritudinem tria requiruntur: integritas, consonantia, claritas. From what I heard Inkworks sold most their stock to Razor. The company is no longer in business whether they closed or went bankrupt, I'm not sure. There are also rumors that Razor has been selling of these autos on Ebay themselves. Also last of all I've heard that if you pull any redemption cards they won't be honored.

I'm the owner of HobbyInsider.net & The Insider's Edge magazine. I personally spoke to Allan about two weeks ago on the phone about the Razor products specifically, but also in more general hobby terms. I can confirm:
1. Inkworks is bankrupt. It is going through the court proceedings now. He was able to pay off a lot of debt by the sale of his excess inventory, but it is still in the court's hands. Even the name & copyright to "Inkworks" may be sold off apparently. 2. He didn't sell the inventory to Razor. He sold to another person, who flipped them to Razor. 3. He wants to get back in the business as he loves it, but doesn't have concrete plans (at least that he would share with me). As far as "Inkworks England" goes, I think the person who used that term meant Strictly Ink, not Inkworks. However, because I just noticed this, it wasn't something I asked Allan about directly. As for starting another company, I do not believe there is an issue as most corporations are registered by the state, not the fed, so even if there is a state rule, he could incorporate in another state without an issue. I will throw this disclaimer on this paragraph though - I'm Canadian, so not 100% up to speed on corporate registration rules stateside (although I do have several corporations registered up here). Hope that clears up some of the confusion. Bruce Findlay |

Hi Bruce just to correct you a little bit: The reference is not to Strictly Ink at all, more over they have nothing to do with inkworks whatsoever. The inkworks England reference is from an artists blog who misunderstood a comment. She was in fact talking about Factory Entertainment who own "Inkworks Archive" having bought all of inkworks back stock of costumes and memorabilia cards. The 70,000+ cards that were "flipped" to Razor are detailed in other places... NONE of this has anything to do with Barrie Roness or his "Strictly Ink" company. As to Allan, I think MOST of us would wish him all the best. I know I would buy his products again. Can you tell us what he thought of the Razor Products? Honestly? Thanks, Jason |

My bad... that makes more sense now that you explain it out. Regardless, "Inkworks England" is, from my understanding, not an option at this time. As for Allan's viewpoint? Well... how do I put this in a politically correct way? Hmmm... let's just say he asked me to keep what he said private, and I will do that. But there is a reason he didn't sell the inventory directly. Bruce |

You know that's the impression I had. Political correctness is overrated but in this case understandable given some of the circumstances. Thanks information Bruce.

I would love to read a "memoir" from Allan in regards to Inkworks' history. Perhaps NSU could have him do a series for the magazine. A series of interviews would be nice, a series of articles would be even better!

This is a great idea but only if Allan is able to say exactly what happened. If there are all sorts of things that he cannot make public then it would be a bit of a waste of time, in my opinion, as we know all the basic stuff.

Ha, Ha! Nice idea, but don't expect it to happen any time soon. Inkworks is apparently still going through the bankruptcy now if what the posts are saying are correct. There are creditors looking to get some return back. There are probably lots more people who came up on the short end of the deal in other ways and can never get anything back.
I wish Allan well, Inkworks put out terrific cards for a long time, but I can't see him writing any articles about its demise at this point. I mean, what would be the upside of it for him? |
