OK Guys

Inkworks may now be consigned to history, but does anyone know what Uncle Allen is up to these days. The news on the street is that a new company has been born, does anyone have anything concrete to share?

I've got a brick and a few pebbles you can have but nothing concrete. Big Grin

I agree with wolfie. The demise of Inkworks in the manner it went down greatly and adversely effected the non-sport card industry as a whole and a lot of dealers and collectors on an individual basis.

I don't think so, I have heard nothing at all to support such a rumor, Alan is clearly involved in the NECA Twilight release, but other than that, I can't see Alan coming back into the industry at this point. Using common sense, if he couldn't get Inkworks over the hump, why would a new company fair any differently, in this economy? What information do you have that would make you think this? "Word on the street?" From who? Anyone can post they suspect something, but at least something of substance should be offered.

The reason inkworks failed is because of poor choices in licenses. If a new company was started of course it could make it, as long as it produces a card set that people actually want

Didn't Inkworks go bankrupt? I don't know what happens in the US, but in Australia, a Director of a bankrupt company cannot be a Director of any other company for at least 5 years (or something like that). This stops people from fake bankrupcies to avoid their debts, and also ensures people who make bad decisions don't have the opportunity to immediately go out and make more bad decisions. I would have thought there was something similar in the US as we seem to import much of our corporate law.

Someone who knows bankruptcy laws should chime in, but there is a big difference between personal bankruptcy and corporate bankruptcy. The Corporation is the entity and the liability of directors or officers in cases of bankruptcy is a lot less than if you were declaring as an individual.

I am sure that the people behind Inkworks could start up another card company at some point, but it has been less than a year and the fallout still hasn't settled. Seems a bit premature given that the market is now flooded with old Inkworks inventory and new licenses are not easy to come by.

They did not go bankrupt. They shut the company down.

I have not heard anything myself but understand that Inkworks did not go bust but actually closed down the business. I am sure there was some kind of statement to the effect that there would be other inkworks venture in the future when they closed. They made the decision to liquidate their stock not some administrators selling off their assets.
If Allen was thinking of making a return it will be interesting as I would imagine some people would still be feeling the burn.

Right you are Tamara, don't know why bankruptcy came up. However a lot of other people got caught on the short end when Inkworks closed, so I still say that talk of a return seems premature.

OOOH - let's see if I can start the rumor mill ... Here we go:

There will soon be a company called "Inkworks in England."

Now discuss.

Is that right? Well I think you'd have to put out some more info for anyone to discuss it. Who is involved in this company and what are they doing? Are these Inkworks' people or a copycat?

As recognizable as the Inkworks name is, it has closed down under less than ideal conditions, so having a new company implying a connection is not necessarily a great idea. Wink

Without more details its hard to start a good rumor. Big Grin
