just relax with all the comments until we see something from Upper Deck or hear something from artists.

Let's not create this heavy discussion when we don't have anything to get it based on.

This is an opinion and there are exceptions. How long will artists continue to put their all into these projects when the monetary compensation just isnt there. I have but one question, has the price of trading cards gone up drastically over the last 10 years? The price major companies pay artists to work on these projects has not increased. But I think the level of quality in artwork has gone up. Like Rich said keep your shirts on, wait and see, you might be impressed, you may not, either way its something new to collect, or not.
Even though I've got several sketch cards for free, I think the artists should be paid alot more than $1.

Yeah, I guess we should all wait until UD at least makes an official anouncement about this set. It may never come to light, or be a Marvel Masterpieces 2008.

Man, I always figured sketch artists got about $10 per card--considering that a box goes for about $65 or so. $1 is ridiculous! You guys should form a union or something. Seriously, I can't believe it is that low. Then to add insult to injury, some dealers are selling cards for upwards of $600!

This is going to be an inexpensive set for UD to produce.
$1 per sketch card and using previous artwork.

So you will help me get some SDCC promo cards?

This is what I was told by UD:

Promos: I know we are going to have at least 9 promos available for San Diego Con maybe more. * Also a new group of artist signing cards will be available for the artists that we host in our booth.

That's good news Tattoox. Not surprising either. Upper Deck has done this new-card-each-day bit on several occasions over the past few years. I'm sure they'll have a big push on Marvel Masterpieces at the show. I just hope the display is more appealing than last year's "Gross Out" display (where they encouraged collectors to take promos from the urinals at their booth Eek).

Hey, none of that potty talk here. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

I did hear one noted promo collector say "I've sunk to a new low. I've pulled promos out of a urinal. I've never done that before." Big Grin
