Yeah, unless you are rich, there is no chance of getting a Master Set. I am like everyone else, I just want to pull some nice sketches. Wait, that is if I get a few boxes off Ebay!

Well, you could go for a master set of the 10 special cards given each artist for sketch cards, that makes twice as many potential master sets as the pack pulled cards.

True Master Sets are almost impossible anymore.

Ebay is how I'm going to have to get my boxes.. that is unless I find a dealer.

Boxes and binders. I'm hoping for a couple of trades to get the sketch cards that I really want. Trying to stay away from ebay fees and such.

The overall set looks nice even without the sketches.

Some people had said that just 3 distribuors bought up all the stock which is why dealers are finding it hard to do preorders because they have no idea what they will recieve.

I've said befor that there seemed something odd about the lack of boxes/cases for ordering so far from release. Artists did between 5 and 200 sketches each, assuming 200 or so artists (the last list posted had 147 but at least 2 known weren't on the list so there are obviously more)and the average will likely be between 100-130 making for between 20,000 and 25,000 boxes, about the same as Star Wars 30th Anniversary which has been plentiful and easy to find right up to now (and we know how ravenous fans have been gobbling this up), although the price has climbed considerably.

If that is true, I hope UD sees the demand for the product (which would be much greater than many of its sport card releases) and starts planning for Marvel Masterpieces 2008 NOW !

I'd be happy if they managed to put more than a few weeks between the biggest comic related sets releases next year. I've been waiting years for a set like this to pop up and now there's 2 practically at the same time and both are nigh on impossible to complete.

I realise my complaint isn't new but I really hope they avoid some of the mistakes made in the past and give us some nice quality stable releases in the future.

I know what you mean though. The Marvel cards have got a lot of comic and ex-comic artists which I would imagine will attract an extra premium. I'm going for DC Legacy in the main, but will pick up the Marvel boxes when the wallet allows

Between DC and Marvel... my hubby is going to kill me when he sees our bank register by the time I get the cards I want.

Like I said, I'm really counting on some trades. That's why I'm going through all my cards now. If I have to give up a few sets- well, what else is a person to do.

On page 10 Scifi says, "I found out today that Upper Deck is allocating product. I had my order cut in half, which means I won't be able to fill all my pre-orders unless I can source some more."

Also on page 10 Ghostrider666 says ...."pre-orders have been heavy."

I'm trying to put sense to this, if UD has allocated this release how is it that only 3 distributors have bought up all the stock? Does it come down to the 3 distributors have allocated this release not UD? Because once the distributor has bought xxx amount of cases, isn't up to the distributor as to how they want to sell them?

This my first time dealing with a card company that has said to be "allocating" their production. It's a new thing to me.

I do know this, everyone I know is trying to get more of this product but not with a lot of success.

At this point, I will only be getting 1 case of Masterpieces as I am going to be getting 4 cases of DC Legacy about a month prior. With these items as well as Heroes and Pirates comming out all at the end of the year, I think my credit cards are going to melt!
