A little more, it works out at £43.04 if you buy everything at full retail price. You will also have three folders as well. I have some major doubts as to just how "Limited" some of these are, I mean ASDA? Really?

Spare albums and cards that I don't give away usually end up at car boot.

I'm not too bothered how limited the Special Edition cards are, I just want a complete set (something denied me since the advent of sketch cards to the Who card world). So at least it's do-able with this release!

I doubt that the starter packs will be on sale indefinitely, although I'm sure there have been a lot produced.

Having said that, our 24 hour ASDA only had 5 or 6 starter packs, compared with many many dozen albums for other current releases.

I haven't seen any starter packs at my local Asda, and it's quite a big store. Never mind, what I can't see...I can't spend money on Big Grin

Still cheaper than a box of most current card products, and for £43.04 you get the exclusive cards, plus a fair old selection of others (not sure how many cards in the collector's tins?) plus the albums!

Your right about the price compared to new products, and the albums can have there covers changed so they are always useful. You will get 60 cards per tin (10 packs), and obviously the tin as well. Kevin is right though a lot of places are selling out of the albums, this set is very very popular.

Thanks for the info on the tin contents. Appreciated. Thumb Up

So for your £43.04 you get 7 Limited Edition cards, 3 albums and at least 32 packs of cards - more if there's a free pack with either DWA or DWM as well as the limited edition card. Not bad really IMHO.

2 free packs on Adventures not sure about the monthly though.

Your right, it's not a bad deal all in all, but tracking them down can be tricky.

I've been lucky with the Limited Editions so far (there's only one McColls in my immediate area, and they only had 2 starter packs!).

The Entertainer will be tougher as there are none in West Yorkshire at all...I will have to travel.

I think you said the Collectors Tin was out in November??

Nice blog by the way, Sci-Fi Planet. Metal

thanks Dalek Smile

The tins are both available from Toys are Us AND the Entertainer, so if you have one or the other near you you should be able to pick them up. If your going to the Memorabilia there is an Entertainer in the City Centre as well.

As to the availability dates that's questionable, I have been told they should be available at these locations now however I have been offered cases of the tins from a wholesaler who tells me they are shipping in Nov. I am speculating that the first wave will be exclusive to the two shops and then later the tins will be more widely available to hobby shops and chains. If I get to a TrU any time soon I will let you know if they have them but so far only the three "common" exclusives have hit eBay.

Anyone else noticed the Limited cards from ASDA are often damaged? The Limited is just loose in the package, I'm assuming this how they are getting damaged.

I don't have one from WH Smiths or McCalls' but I'm assuming the problem will be the same.

I have the Smiths and McColls cards and the condition is ok, but yes they are just loose in the packaging.

Got my MCColls starter pzck, they had quite a few in. Looks like the Dr Who's Adventure card is in issue 137, just two free packs with 136 and a glow in the dark Slitheen mask. Big Grin

I've got all 3. Yes, a few are damaged at the corners because as you say they're loose in the pack. It's just a question of cherry picking and getting one that's okay (which is what I did).

I am at the moment having an interesting exchange with the editor of the Doctor Who Monthly mag (on another forum) who is telling me that DW Adventures is NOT getting an exclusive card... I am seeking more clarification on that but someone at Panini is wrong I am trying to find out who. They really are a pain in the butt to deal with.

You're doing an admirable job, Sci-Fi Planet. Wave

It's a shame that Panini aren't so helpful...

Yes well done on all the work you are doing, it is all very helpful and intresting and as you say it is allmost beyond belief that you cannot get reliable information from the manufacturer.

Went to the ASDA in Wolverhampton today and they had none of the starter packs. I tried to ask about them and got about as much help as you are getting.

Just got a starter pack from Smiths.

They had about 8 packs on display and in 7 of them the card was damaged with a bent or crimped corner.

This will be something to watch out for when buying from Ebay.
