sadly, ive been hearing this movie was written with one thought in mind..."the original series was too cerebral, lets dumb it down a little for the movie!"...any movie following that core, along with some pretty hamfisted directing/scripting, probably isnt gonna do overly well. It was a silly concept to begin with, to make it work it had to actually be good, not just exist, from what im hearing, it did the latter.

I can't believe someone would use the words "Speed Racer" and "fantastic" in the same sentance, even my kids don't want to go see it.

Has Susan Sarandon been in any good movie since The Hunger and the baseball one?

After her lack luster performance in Children of Dune I avoid any film she's in like the plague.

I loved the movie and wish there was a card set. The closest thing to trading cards I have seen is the UNO set.

Yeah since The Hunger and Bull Durham she's been in Thelma & Louise, The Client, and Dead Man Walking. Also, and I haven't seen it yet so I can't comment directly, but I heard In The Valley of Elah was pretty good too.

All I gotta say is The Wachowski Brothers aren't the first people who come to mind when I think "Hey, who should write, direct, and produce a live action Speed Racer movie?"

Hate the movie, wouldn't buy the cards, although I am curious to see what they would look like.

From the trailers, I really had no desire to see this at the theatre. It does look to be an wonderful assault on the senses....if you are on acid or any other halucinagetic (most likely mis-spelled) while watching it.

I doubt there will be a set. The movie wasn't very good. I haven't heard any news of one, but I will post if I do.

Playground Maniacs just released a set based on the classic cartoon and The Next Generation series. I've only seen them in a gravity-feed display at Target.

These are the game cards, right?

I seem to recall being offered Speed Racer game cards but I passed.

According to the Playground Maniacs site, they're game cards. I looked at a pack at Target and just assumed they were regular cards. I'll pick up a few packs next time to check.

I ordered a box of the Playground Maniacs "clear cards" just to see what they were all about, but they haven't arrived yet because they were attached to a pre-order for something that was supposed to be released today. They're marked as gaming cards, but if they're aimed at kids, they don't have to follow the "rare-uncommon-common" standard and might be attractive to non-gamers.
