It seems those are just mock-ups. I believe they used the same sticker for both of the David cards.

Ok, I don't think the normal autographs look to bad...but I SERIOUSLY hope they DO NOT stick with the design on the Dual auto. The picture they used you cannot even see their faces!

This is definitely going to be an expensive master set. A 10 case dual autograph and a 6 case purchase to score the puzzle pieceworks set.

With 9 autographs in the set, either Gillian and David are going to be fairly easy pulls, or there are going to be tons of the other 7.

Just a guess on my part but I am not sure there will be even one or the other per case . I know they were unable to secure as many auto's as they had hoped and I am sure they were referring to Duchovny and Anderson. IF there were say 100 of each which I believe would be a reasonable number that would only be 200 total . With a print run of say 4-500 cases or 4-5000 boxes you would see these auto's hit one or the other in every 2 cases . As the print run goes up the odds get worse. The dual will be extremely limited as well .. my guess max 50 . THIS IS ALL HYPOTHETICAL !!! I hope they were able to get Duchovny, a first time signer ,to sign 2-300 but probably not Frown

Shame they could not get either Peet or Connolly to sign some stickers Frown .

It's a nice selection of pieceworks and autos but I am not in favour of these high end multi case incentives.I appreciate dealers need something extra to help with making a profit but it really makes it hard on the completist in me.

I fear this is another set I will file under"too expensive for a master set" and just pick up the mini master and the cheap autos and pieceworks off auction sites Frown .

Dual Mulder/Scully auto as a DEALER INCENTIVE CARD!?!!? Give me a break. Isn't the Pieceworks puzzle set enough? Put the dual auto (probably the most highly anticipated for card for X-Files collectors) in the packs Inkworks and let the COLLECTORS have a shot at it! But I guess you are just trying to move cases and don't really care.

Would anyone mind posting a list of the autos and pieceworks? I just read somewhere else that there are a few spoilery stills on the page. Wink

Now can you just imagine how good the autograph cards would look if they had kept the design but ditched the sticker?

I think the stickers are horrible. Maybe its the way the images are scanning, but I don't need to read Inkworks 867 times popping out from behind the signature. Sure, they look like they have a bit of extra width than the Topps holograms but Topps's stickers are better. I really can't beleive I just said that. Both still naff though.

And the dual auto is one ugly looking card.

I'm not sure where this "master set mentality" has come from -- "If I can't own every card for a price reasonably within my budget, I won't buy any!" -- but the market is changing and the companies need to change with it. The dozen or so people who won't buy a set unless they can own every card can't be their main concern anymore.

This is not a slam to anyone in this thread at all, it's just a response to the "master set or nothing" posts I've been reading here on Card Talk for the past few months.

Aren't collectors part of the economy? Money is just as tight for collectors as it is for the companies and dealers.

Is antagonizing long term customers, especially those who have collected the X-Files franchise since they picked up the license a wise move on Inkworks part? I don't think so.

The concept of collecting isn't a new one and the idea is normally to get a complete set of something, therefore the, "master set mentality" isn't new. Before you get to critical of these individuals who are completists you had better stop to think about just how much of a product that these folks buy trying to complete their master sets.

I can understand that they promise multiple case-buyers a special card but I also hope that some of the dual-autograph cards are also in the packs (Inkworks haven't said they aren't doing this so there is still hope).

a agree that no one is forced to get all the cards
but a collector should be able to complete a set
without selling is house
making cards too rare or too hard to get isn't good for most people
unless you are rich of course

Rittenhouse does this and there are also some box breakdowns confirming this.

If you are referring to the random 1 in 25+ cases archive box then yes a few boxes are inserted into most Rittenhouse products .Or perhaps the W.O.M. rewards program embossed card that was put into production in error . But you will not open a pack and get a 2,3 ,6 etc case incentive card. These are inserted into toploaders and distributed to dealers. If they did do this I have had the worst luck in pulling them as I open approx. 25 cases of all their products and have NEVER pulled a incentive card from a pack .Heck, I wish they did then I would really be getting cases on the cheap Wink

I remember reading that a member got a Grace Lee Whitney (Janice Rand) Quotable Auto (2 case incentive). It was in a top loader at the bottom of the box. So it seems they are not inserted into packs. Here's the link (searched for it).

No, RA has definitely said sometime ago that they were putting a few of the case incentive's in individual boxes that were not archive boxes. How many do they actually put I don't know.

But that's RA not Inkworks.

Well, I again will stand by that is the exception not the rule. Perhaps 2 years ago there was a card inserted . But w/o question that is NOT what RA does with their incentives . I just want to make that clear as I don't want people to get the impression that that is their company policy to do so as many collectors will be sadly dissappointed. Also, let me make the point that I would LOVE for them or any other companies to do so as I open ALOT of product and would love more freebies ! Incentives for buying quantity and more incentives in packs would mean more $$$ in my pocket
