Here's the latest from Artbox:

The World of Harry Potter 3D Trading Cards 2nd Edition

Artbox Entertainment introduces an all new set of 3-D lenticular cards which will feature scenes from all Harry Potter movies:

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2003)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix (2007)

Distributors will want to take note of the 3-D lenticular effects on all 72 cards— 9 randomly selected chase cards, including Prop cards and Costume cards! Every card will feature a specially-selected scene from the movie selected to maximize the effects of the lenticular technology—lifting the image off of the printed card—almost magically! Also available is a collector’s binder to store your newest collection.

The final level of chase cards will also include randomly inserted autograph cards with NEW SIGNERS to add to the collection – never before included in previous card sets!

*Christian Coulson as Tom Riddle
*Charles Hughes as Young Peter Pettigrew
*More to be announced!

To be honest, its just getting a bit tiresome to collect Harry Potter sets now. There are just too many sets......

Personally? I wish they'd do sketch cards. I'd love love love to draw these characters! Or maybe an art set? I've seen some of Tommy Lee Edwards' Harry Potter paintings he did for the films and they'd make amazing cards!

Would definitely support that idea! Chris Henderson has also done some HP sample sketches and I loved them (managed to get a few cards from him).

With at least 6 more sets from the last 3 films to come, it will be interesting! Could image rights be an issue for sketch cards for HP?

How long ago did Artbox ask artists for sample sketches? A year or so? My guess is that Warner Bros. shot down the idea, otherwise, that would be the set coming out in June.

I have brought it up to them when I've met with the Owners..That would be a great kick start to the Harry Potter Releases... As long as they don't have Waterhouse Sketching as that would kill it.. Shake Head

you know, if waterhouse commited to doing say 500 sketchs only or less, i bet he could turn out something nice. ive seen some of his work when he was actually trying and not just taking advantage...its actually really interesting, especially his woodcut style. I think the general rule of thumb should be, 1000 at most, and have have the vast majority do 500 or less. I think you would see most if not all current sketch artists could turn out great stuff if thoes guidelines are followed.

I think the numbers you are quoting there are still way too high. Each artist should do about 50 and make them really good ones which they can take time over.
The company should pay the same amount for these 50 that they were going to for 500 doodles.
Sketches would then be randomly inserted and not gauranteed in every box.

You may not pull a sketch but at least you know that if you do it will be something special and well worth having.

I will have to agree with Wolfie..I just want something that says "Wow" not "Oh ****"..I'd take a lot less sketch cards as long as they were worth collecting. I'm going to start using Waterhouse anything and Ramirez Star Wars for junk fillers..They're worth less that common base cards in sets..

Well I look for the autographs above all else and, except for the BIG 3, this line up so far isn't great.

I wish they would get Alan Rickman already. Then go back and have some of the better known non-student actors sign again. Quantities are well below demand for many of them.

Can't say I'm all that excited either. I may still buy a box as the Potter cards are usually fun to open but I'm still not sure.

I prefer props over other cards, so I'm pretty excited about the set. Of the 10 props listed so far, only one is a repeat. I'd love to get the bone used to resurrect Voldemort and it's great to finally have some Quidditch props. Smile

Alan Rickman would be an awesome autograph...

The Prop Card list is really, really good! I think I'll buy one box, or maybe two Smile.

Unless the artist is Nik... in fact there are a number of artists who could do more than 50 and make them very very good. Alot of it has to do with the build up time to the set. I have yet to see a Nik sketch that has been poor, and he has done a lot of sketches in the Dr. Who set. (350+ IIRC)

Does anyone know the release date for this set?
I've seen some pre-sells on ebay but haven't heard a confirmed date. I know that information from Artbox is sketchy at best but a ballpark date would help. Thanks.

Greg

The email I received today said the ship date from Artbox to distributors is June 10. The official release date is usually a week or so later.
