I decided to buy seven packs of Upper Deck Victory 2005/06 NHL trading cards ( something I haven't done in a long time ) and I found a common card but it was #117, Scott Gomez, of the New Jersey Devils and it does say that he played for the Aces in 2004-05 season and lead in assists ( 73 ) and points ( 86 ) in 61 games. His stellar play earned him the 2005 ECHL award. This card will be very popular here in Anchorage.

I mentioned this in an earlier thread, but the very first pack of Angel 3 I bought included the Fred auto. This was from a shop that only puts out a few packs at a time.

I've pulled a lot out of packs, but one of my best, though I didn't think so at the time, was from some packs I bought off of eBay. I had bought 10 packs of Buffy season 2 sometime in 2002 or 2003 I guess, and when they got here, I opened them, hoping beyond hope for an autograph card, particularly the Cordelia auto, didn't get her but I did get the A7 John Ritter as Ted autograph.....I was slightly disappointed with it, but still happy because of rarity and because I grew up with Three's Company, needless to say when he passed, I looked at the card pretty wistfully. It was a good pull, especially from an eBay win.

At Wizard World last weekend there weren't any card dealers, but a group of Browncoats had set up a booth to promote Serenity/Firefly (and Joss Whedon in general) and had an open box of Serenity cards. I bought two packs and got an Alan Tudyk autograph card in the first one. The lady running the booth said it was one of the few she didn't have and another young woman helping out asked if she could hug it!

I figured since I'd gotten one of the best cards out of the box I should buy some more packs and out of 4 more packs I only got base cards. Strangely, out of 6 packs the autograph was the ONLY chase I got.

Bought seven packs of Animated Xena/Hercules today and three packs of Smallville.

Smallville-no chase whatsoever
AX+H- Echidna B2, XH3, and.....

Lucy Lawless as the voice of Xena

This is my first time buying any Xena cards and I kinda wanted a Callisto, but I never expected to get a Xena autograph.

Yeah, I'm smiling. Smile

Brent Spiner from QST:TNG
Nicholas Brendon from BTVS:MOS
Lucy Lawless from AX&H
Alyssa Milano from Charmed: Conversations

the only auto I wanted this year that I didn't get was Gillian Anderson from X-Files: Connections.

and thus far, Michael Rosenbaum from Smallville 4.

It's been a long dry spell for me since Serenity was released and I found myself at ye olde comic shoppe again checking to see what's new, I was in such card withdrawl I was ready to open anything. Wink As it happens they had some WWE Heritage so I bought 8 pavks and got 1 sticker (1 of 10, Hulk Hogan) and 2 relic cards, Triple H and Chris Jericho (this looks to be a great varient, all sorts of writing on it Big Grin). On a whim I bought 3 packs of TOPPS Bazooka basketball and pulled... a CARMEN ELECTRA AUTOGRAPH!!! Drool

Couldn't wait to scan these...

Pulling the Carmen Electra is cool, but that card design leaves a lot to be desired. And I hate the "band aid" autograph stickers.

Not to mention, Carmen and Actress on the same card? Yeah, right... Roll Eyes

I actually don't mind the design, it's not as good as the TOPPS Big Game cards but I think it's better than the TOPPS base brand autos. The stickers annoy me too, I'd rather have a "live" signed card but in the world of sports cards they seem to be an endangered species now. After perusing the TOPPS site I'm even more pleased with the pull, autos are just 1 per 12 box case and there are 19 autos total, 5 of which could be termed "non-sports".

My latest - the Local Store had a box of Smallville Season 3 (I don't know how long it's been there - I hadn't seen it before)
In the packs I bought (3) I got quite a few base card doubles - probably a result of my pulling packs randomly from the middle of the box (as I usually do!) - however, I DID get a Pieceworks card - PW3 - Chloe's Top worn by Allison Mack.
Another thin Pieceworks card - so presumably less detectable by the detested cherry pickers! I think the only way they could get thinner would be to paste the costume onto the surface of a card with no 'cutout' layer (and run the risk of it falling off)...
Au Res.,
Paul

Since many are having good luck, I thought I would try my hand at something new. I don't collect CSI or Army of Darkness, but my store has a box of each. I bought 2 packs of CSI and pulled the CSI-A3, Jorja Fox. Bought 4 packs of Army and pulled Richard Grove 273/525. Smile

It's funny, I also bought several packs each of sets I do collect, and didn't even pull a chase card. Oh well, I'm not complaining.

This weekend I bought two packs of Buffy Women of Sunnydale and pulled FE-6 from the Fashion Emergency 9 card set.

Nothing to write home about, but for £1 a packet, not bad! Smile

I picked up a pack of Army Of Darkness just becuse I was passing a shop with them at the front, and pulled a Richard Grove Auto numbered 352 of 525 which was kinda cool. I never bothered with this set, but the cards are resonable.
