Found this gem in a pack from a retail box (6 packs) I bought at Target when they were released.

I think that's just part of the design. I've seen swatches that were all white, all black and a mix of both.

The black line looked kind of scratchy. I see scratches from obvious use, but the black line looks a tad different.

I've seen sports jersey cards that did indeed have cut pieces with parts of a signature, thought that might have been the case here.

Only 5 cards for the entire print run!

Other than the Numbering on them I don't know if they are any different than the regular edition or the 50 silver editions.

I mean -- is there 1 relic (of some sort) or other hit per blaster or less?

Nope, there's not even a guaranteed hit in a Hobby Box let alone the blasters. Unless you count parallel cards as a 'hit.'

The KISS sets were all Feast or Famine. No guarantees and the occasional jackpot.

From Target this is the only bonus I have ever found in retail. I did buy one pack of a Harry Potter set a few years ago at walfart (before they stopped selling NS around here) and got a costume card. These are the only unexpected finds I have had in retail packs.
