Just wondering what you guys thought about sealed sketch cards, sometimes they come with a foil seal like the Rittenhouse ones. Would you rather they be sealed with some official sticker or just placed loose in a run of the mill toploader?

Personally I prefer them not sealed with sellotape as quite often the card gets stuck to it. It also depends on the size of the top loader. I have recently received several cards placed in top loaders designed to hold a thicker card than that placed in it and when tape is wrapped around the ends cards have a habit of sticking and possibly suffering damage.

I would suggest a strip of paper that has tape at each end should do the trick as the tape can be stuck to the top loader and the paper can go over the open end.

If you do seal it, squeeze it together at the top so that the sides are touching when you seal it. That will usually keep the card from sliding up and touching the adhesive.
I just stick mine in a resealable team bag.

Seals are unnecessary, just make sure its protected in the shipping process.

Best way I've found to ship is to put the card in a soft protector and the put it in a toploader upside-down.No problem with the sellotape sticking.

The best way to seal a card in a toploader is to use painters tape. It sticks very well to the top loader but also peels off easily and doesn't leave a residue. I hate when I get a card that's been sealed by scotch tape or packing tape, the toploader is pretty much ruined.

That's one of my biggest pet peeves
I HATE it when i get in a tapped toploader (unless it is making, electrical, etc tape that removes easily and w/o residue)

A paper towel and a dab of Goo-Gone gets rid of the tape residue. That's what I use to salvage top loaders. It's quick and simple.

I've won several cards on eBay that arrived damaged from sticking to tape that sealed a toploader.

Tape near cards is not a good combination.

I agree. In the past more than a few sellers have done this, and it has been almost impossible for me to get the cards out without damaging them.

Toploaders should not be taped if it can be avoided.

Best solution is team bags. Seals over the top, the card can't get out, and it's an extra layer of protection.

Team bags are relatively cheap and protecting a card is worth the additional 2 cents for a team bag.

Thus far the trend seems to be very much against sealing which is good because i never did it anyway. Perhaps i should just leave the seal as a sticker still on the wax backing and include it with the card.

Thanks;

Evan
