I can't believe it sold for that much...
Is there something special about this card??? I know who Ric Flair is but I never thought an auto card of his would go for that amount. |

Until that auction, that card was a "myth" and didnt really exist, and will most likely be the only one ever to see the light of day. ____________________ |

Think it would have sold for more if he spelled "Ric" correctly?

Are you joking here or being serious? |

The Auction Spells his name "RIck". With dinged up corners and a crease in the back its crazy to pay that much.

In your opinion. I know people who think it's crazy to spend $3.00 on a pack of cardboard. so it's all economy's of scale. I am not a wrestling fan but what I can appreciate is the REAL rarity behind a card like this rather than the false manipulated rarity of most modern trading cards. This is a 1 of 1, or very close. No one out there has a better condition copy of the card so a few dinged corners become a lot less relevant. Would I personally spend that much money on this card? Heck no, but then I bet I wouldn't buy the same things you would, thats what makes things so much fun.
I don't think it's any more crazy than some of the prices top cards go for (Ford, Fisher, NAR ect). |

Thanks... Now it makes sense. Is there any other cards from this set that are "myths"??? What is the story behind the whole set??? I have seen some of the auto cards from this set selling for hundreds of dollars and up... |

It's spelled Ric. Not Rick. |

It's a great price, no matter how few of it were produced if only because wrestlers generally sign TONS of autographs.
It's a very fan friendly sport and Ric Flair's been around a looong time, so he much have quite a few autographs out there. I haven't followed or watched wrestling in a long time, but I absolutely adored the Topps Heritage sets and bought all 3 (in regular and chrome). Nice to see Topps will be making a WWE yearly set. The 2009 set just came out this week and I think I'll pick up a box or two or that. |

I am only quoting this because it looks cool, I think this is the longest quote chain on the board... until someone quotes me on that... |

You mean the longest topic deviation? It does make a cool hourglass shape. |
